Re: Three Johns

Hmmm, what a cruel vision in Sherlock´s MP... what does it want to tell us?
Maybe that rather than Sherlock´s friend, John is actually disinterested in Sherlock as a person and only cares about the adventures Sherlock pulls him into?
Interesting meta here:

I cannot live without brainwork. What else is there to live for? Stand at the window there. Was there ever such a dreary, dismal, unprofitable world? See how the yellow fog swirls down the street and drifts across the dun-coloured houses. What could be more hopelessly prosaic and material? What is the use of having powers, Doctor, when one has no field upon which to exert them?

I've wondered about this, too. To me, it seems that Sherlock has internalized some of John's Not Very Nice comments about and to Sherlock over the years.  How sad that that's the impression Sherlock's been left with, when it comes to what John gets out of their friendship.
