Dear goodness! That's a massive amount of bad luck! Stay safe Zatoichi!
I am nervous about going back to the dentist tomorrow... and I just got a message from the job center... next month was already very tight economically... and now they are cutting my benefits down further, and apparently they now also want me to pay back some of my benefits.
Right now I don't even know what I'm going to eat next month now.
Blegh. Luckily my Birthday is coming up in the end of next month and I can ask for money instead of presents... just so I have a bit to go on

What the.. how are you supposed to pay back from allowances that are barely enough to cover for food and housing? Especially as you have additional costs for commuting now? Stay strong, and check if they even have the right to do that - sometimes they make unbelievable mistakes (a friend´s husband recently got an "F" on his final test for retraining, and after checking it turned out they "forgot" to count 20 points which were enough for a "D".. )

I called them... the woman there told me that it usually took them a while to write out the letters with the actual pay back demand... and when I finally get it, I should contact them again to find a way to pay back; apparently there's a chance they can split up the payments or something.
But I think I need to make an appointment with my doctor; some conditions make you elegible for higher benefits since it's harder to find work... which actually is the case with my scoliosis... but I don't know if my diagnosis is enough on the paper...
And I don't know when my unpaid job starts yet... but at this rate I'm not sure I can actually take it.
Oh well. I'll survive somehow.

Hugs girls...
Mine's a petty one.
I had yet another Sherlockian colleague bemoaning the Special today- as usual, because it was too complex.
Well excuse BBC Sherlock for daring to produce intelligent TV that actually makes you think!
Crap TV has so much to answer for!

That does sound like an annoying comment to hear.
And best of luck, Phantom!

Ugh. I do hate when people start complaining about shows because THEY didn't get it. Gah.
And I've got a rant too. I'll spare the most gory details... but I'm sort of stuk in the bathroom with food poisoning.

Oh, that´s too bad. Get well soon, Phantom.

It´s always delightful when your colleague opens a can of smelly tuna salad in the office....

Oh, tell me about it. I work at a retail store, so there's a lot of us, and varying shifts, so never know who's going to happen to be taking 'lunch' in the break room at the same time as you. There's this one older guy in a different department who I often kinda inwardly groan if I see he's taking lunch at the same time, if that day was a day he packed a frequent 'favorite' of his -- a bowl full of grayish-brown gravy and dumplings. Heated up in the microwave first. So that the pungent smell fills the whole room…
Speaking of food, gah, Phantom, I got 'sick' sick over the weekend, too! And I rarely ever do! Aside from stomach still being a bit 'sensitive' the next day, was so much better after I was (although uck, that's no fun), and tried to make light of it by telling the story as that 'the d*mn chicken was after me!' (because that's the only thing I could figure it was).

I do love tuna, but gosh it can be smelly! Lots of food can! And some people have no manners really. My mum used to visit someone in a 'hippie house' (sorry I don't know the proper word for a lot of free spirited people living together in the 70's).
One of them was from the Faeroe Islands and she would make some sort of dish with rotten sheep meat...
Yuck, sorry to hear you got sick too Russel!
With me the joke is that I've been living off of bread for a while, and yesterday I passed by the butcher and got some cured cheap meat... I needed protein pretty bad. I'm pretty sure that's what caused it... I've thrown the last of the meat out. Not taking any chances!

Sorry to hear about you guys feeling sick. It's never a good feeling.

Lutefisk....that is all! Ha ha!

You shoud try to get your protein somehow different. So many possibilities.....

I know, but quite limited when you have a food budget of less than £10 weekly. And the food budget is the only thing you can cut down on when the benefits gets lowered... I have no savings. Oh, and your medicine and other household items is also paid from the 'food' budget.
Luckily some weekends I visit my mum who feeds me, and sends me home with food for a few days, and after the doctor diagnosed me with malnutrition she gave me a bottle of vitamins.

Well, beans and eggs and such aren't that expensive that you have to poison yourself with cheap meat.
Offline
I know I can't afford to be picky... but I can't eat beans... and eggs here are actually expensive, unless you buy the ones from caged hens. And I can't make myself eat those.
The past week I lived off of cheap wholegrain toast without anything on it, cheap chocolate, milk and coffee...
Before I won the cash in the online casino I thought I had to starting eating every other day next month... since they want to cut down my benefits further. I can't cut back on anything else.

And this is the point where I give up already. Probably you don't want to understand what I mean.

Those further up with retainers you can use sterilising tablets the same type you use for baby bottles and dummies... Just don't leave them for too long.
Offline
Mattlocked, I do want to understand.
but take last week... I had £10, after I bought meds and toilet paper I had 3 left. On top of things I have eating disorders... and beans for example makes me sick, I can't just pinch my nose and get it in. Also, I can't cook... a mix of a mother who didn't care to teach me, me having a learning difficulty and being too sick to stand for long enough.
And they are threatening to lower my benefits further than this.

To me it seems you don't want advice but just let some steam off - which is perfectly on-topic on this thread, after all it's "Rants". And yes, I see why this is an awful situation for you.
