I noticed on Amazon today that the on the used copies of Alan's older films the prices have been jacked WAY up! I think it's disgusting for people to try and profit off his death like that. Oh, you were willing to sell that DVD for $6 last week but now that the star has died you want $300? Excuse me sir but you are an ass.

Dark Harbor
If anyone's still interested: Years ago I've bought this movie and was (still am) very impressed by it.
It's not so well known, I guess; what a pity.
Found it on youtube in an acceptable quality, with double subtitles, though.
If you like give it a try. Maybe don't read the comments before watching it.

Sorry, sorry, I promise I will stop now... but this one was really moving - and also the little funny story... :
Feminine mystique strikes again....

I've just remembered that Benedict once said in an interview that David Bowie is (was) a Sherlock fan.
"I found out David Bowie likes it today. He’s obsessed with it. That is f***ing cool.”

Well that man had taste!

I know Benedict is a fan of Bowie...I thought of him, when we lost David.

Well who isn't even if some just a bit. He was cool.
After that Sony hack is was revealed that Benedict wanted (wants) to play Bowie in that Freddie Mercury biopic. I think it even must be mentioned in this forum somewhere. He would be great in every role, but he wouldn't be the first actor who'd come to my mind for playing Bowie.

Oh I think he'd kill it!

By the way, the fact that both David Bowie and Alan Rickman had pancreas cancer is shocking. That and colon cancer are the worst because the real symptoms come when it's almost too late.
I read yesterday that doctors first thought Alan had a stroke back in August 2015 than they found out it's pancreas cancer.

Oh? I've read that Bowie had liver cancer.
And I found some conspiracy theories out there..... ts, people.
But somehow I like the idea about faked deaths and them both sitting on a beach together, laughing...

I don't know the causes of their cancers.
But it was possibly life style.
It was liver cancer that my Uncle died from.
Diagnosed and dead within 3 weeks.
I was only 5 and it was the first time I saw my mother cry.

Life style. Sure. Not fate or bad luck. It's always life style.

Quite.
I have wanted to say that all along, but feared being set upon by an angry mob with pitchforks!
Which is exactly why I'm so pleased if Benedict has given up smoking.

Yeah that's what every newspaper wrote at first, from Friday on I read it's pancreas cancer everywhere.
Well we are familiar with faked death, aren't we. But honestly some people have way too much free time. But something like that could be part of a grieving process, who knows.
No Alan in it, but I love this one:

Fine. Maybe we should talk about my grandma, my father, my mother and my sister some day.....
Baaad life style. All of them.

@Ivy Aw.
@ Mattlocked.
Yeah I don't know if Uncle was a smoker, but I know my Aunt was ...she also died of cancer.
Plus Grandad and sister-in-law...both smokers.

All from my list: non-smokers.
Your "theory" leads to "shame on them!", which I don't like.

That's not what I meant at all.
Sometimes, it is just pure bad luck.
This was the case with my sister and her ovarian cancer.
The Specialist told her he could not tell her why she got it.
She didn't fit into any categories.
He actually uses her case study in his classes.
She had a really high grade cancer and was convinced she would die, though he said he wasn't going to let her.
Thankfully, she survived.

IMO you never can tell why you get it - or why you don't.
Of course you can and should avoid several well-known risks. Try to live healthy.
But still no guarantee you won't get ill.
As well as taking one or the other risk won't kill you "for sure".
Cancer is the devil.

*angry mob with pitchforks arrives*
So non-smokers who get cancer are innocent and smokers who do get cancer deserve it?
I don't want to read this kind of nonsense here. Cancer can happen to anybody. And some die from it and some do not.
Can we get back to topic now?
