The War Magician

Benedict is reportedly attached to the following project. I opened a new thread since it seems to be more than a rumour:

Re: The War Magician

It's being reported on the Hollywood Reporter website and here http://deadline.com/2015/12/benedict-cumberbatch-the-war-magician-wwii-jasper-maskelyne-gary-whitta-1201659037/ so it definitely looks like more than a rumour. Another interesting biopic, how exciting!

Re: The War Magician

Actually, upon reading some reviews of the book by David Fisher that the film will be based on, it sounds more like a fictionalised account of Jasper Maskelyne's contribution to the war effort rather than a biopic, but still interesting

Re: The War Magician

I'm really enthused about this project.

Not only does the story seem interesting but I love historical dramas so this is my type of movie exactly.

It could be played with a lot of dry humour too considering the character of Jasper Maskelyne.

When I saw a video of his magic act he seemed to be very OTT theatrical, a real P. T. Barnum type but with a definite matinee suaveness.

And how exciting that SunnyMarch is finally getting a whack at producing something that will hopefully be in mainline theatres.

So, I guess he was negotiating more deals all along... they just weren't listed on IMdB.

Re: The War Magician

Really interesting, that book is now on my must-read before I see the movie! Which gratefully will be quite a bit in the future. (First Dr. Strange, then Sherlock, then I reckon a break - he will probably start shooting this around fall 2016?)
