Have you guys heard this Johnlock Little Mermaid parody?
Sung by williamanyascottholmes
Part Of That World (TJLC edition)
I just can’t see how a show that makes such gay pilots be straight.
Look at this ship
Isn’t it neat?
Wouldn’t you think our
Fandom is complete?
Wouldn’t you think we’re the fans
The fans who have
Everything?
Look at this tag
Meta retold.
How many AUs
Can one fandom hold?
Looking around here you’d think
“Sure, they’ve got everything.”
We’ve got fanfics and edits aplenty
We’ve got screencaps and gif sets
Galore
You want homoerotic subtext?
We’ve got plenty!
But who cares?
No big deal.
I want more.
I wanna be
Where the johnlock is
I wanna see
Wanna see them dancing
Clubbing along in the,
What’s it called again?
Oh, gay bar scene
When they’re apart
They don’t get too far
Love is required for running
Waltzing.
Living together in
Where’s that again?
Baker Street.
Up where they walk
Up where they run
Up where they kiss all day in the sun
Canon and free
Wish I could be
Part of that world
What would I give
If I could live
Out of this hell?
What would I pay
To spend a day
Free from pining?
Betcha canon
Johnlock understands
Bet they don’t misread signals
No more pining
Sick of hiding,
Holding hands
And I’m ready to know what Mofftiss knows
Ask ‘em my questions
And get some answers
Why this hell and why does it
What’s the word? Burn?
When’s it their turn?
Wouldn’t I love
Love to see them openly in love?
at 221b
Wish I could be
Part of that world

Very good meta comparing the love of Sherlock to the love of Mary and their visual representation on-screen:

Wonderful meta. I really have no idea how one can read this and still think this is not a romance.

At times it does seem that many of us are watchign different programs.

Very interesting meta. And crystal clear if put next to each other like this. I know it's often argued that the romantic tropes are used to underline the very special friendship, but I feel for " only a special friendship" it is HEAVILY used. I could imagine there were sorts of " friendship tropes" the Mofftiss could have used. And compared to the dysfunctional Warston marriage it's just in plain sight.

Something a bit different today, that is no lovely pics and gifs but just some thoughts.
I am currently watching the Southbank Show interview with Melvyn Bragg and I am once again completely fascinated listening to Benedict. He has such a thoughtful, funny, and compassionate way of talking about his characters, and Hamlet of course is one of the most complex characters in literature. He mentions aspects I never thought about before and it is obvious how deeply he delved into the character to make him come alive. On Twitter someone wrote about overhearing a visitor who said: "I once saw a great actor play Hamlet, Laurence Olivier. But this is Hamlet."
The same has been said about his Alan Turing. He talked exhaustively about the man, his take on the part, Turing's life and work, the research he did, etc. And here as with Hamlet you can really feel how much he loves those difficult, lonely, and sometimes tragic characters.
So why all this in this thread?
Because we have been talking in-depth about Sherlock for years, how the character has been conceived and how he keeps developing throughout the show and how Benedict makes him come to life and gives him a completely new momentum compared to other adaptations.
But the funny thing is, he does not talk about it. Not the way he talks about Turing and Hamlet although there is so much to be said. When he talks about Sherlock, I often catch myself thinking "Oh, Benedict, this is not you. Not at all." Always the same sweeping remarks about being a "sociopath" or "having regressed" in series 3 which is completely untrue if you ask me, or being interested in having sex with Irene which is more than improbable. (Honestly, he even took more pains in discussing the dragon than Sherlock)
In short: I feel once again confirmed in that there is something the team is not talking about. And IMO there is only one answer to this.

An interesting thought, Susi. And it sounds somehow convincing.
