I saw this in a Telgraph article on Twitter today, sorry if it has already been posted.
Amanda Abbington on Sherlock:
Before that there’s a Christmas special set in the Victorian era. It was so much fun to film, and felt like a real caper. Everything becomes clear as to why we’re in Victorian dress, but it still follows the path left by the third series.
Nothing really new here, but it certainly has me wondering how S3 and the Victorian Special can possibly be linked!

Please, God, let it be true!

See what I mean when I say one day Steven says something, and the day after they say the opposite?

Yes, interesting speculation indeed!

Amazing speculation actually. I have this belief deep inside that it will come out around Christmas and New Years... it's just a hunch but I'm sticking to it.

Not much new information but still:

Curious how they are going to realise it.

Yes, so am I. And there is still the modern-day scene they filmed in the cemetery. I wonder how this will fit in.

My head is bursting with a million ideas now!
Will the entire episode be one long mind palance scene?
Offline
Could be. Because I think they will not go for time travel …

Well who knows, maybe the graveyard has some sort of timey wimey portal to the past...

A mind palace scene... could be... and the cemetry scene maybe... a hook to the new season?

And Moriarty didn´t die but escaped through it to the Victorian era?

I feel like the cemetery scene is going to be part of Series 4, not the Special, and they just filmed it at the same time as the special, which could be for one or several reasons:
- Because they were able to get access to that graveyard at that particular time so they thought "why not"
- Because it's an important scene that is part of the build up to explaining the whole Moriarty thing, and they wanted to film it early to get it out of the way and also to be away from all the fans and speculation in London
- Because they knew that filming one scene in modern day clothes would completely throw the fans off and cause all kinds of wild theories to be spread, thereby distracting from what they were actually doing and ensuring that none of us will guess what the special is actually about
- They actualy filmed several modern scenes that will be part of the opening sequence of S4 Ep 1, but that one was the only one filmed outside and the others were indoors and we didn't get to hear about them or find out.

Good points. I would be fine with a special that is completely period. But I still wonder how they are going to solve the Moriarty matter that way.
