Maybe it's a surprise until the christening/namegiving?
In Denmark it's a tradition to keep the baby's name hidden so it's a surprise for the christening.
So, who knows? Or maybe it's simply that they want any slice of privacy they can get, and something like the little one's name is that.

According to the DM the baby has been named Christopher Carlton Cumberbatch and was born on 1 June. Since it has been spread by cumberbatchweb and other reliable sources as well, I feel sure enough to post it in here.

Christopher Robin

Is it weird that I'm proud of Ben and Sophie, that they were able to keep baby Christopher's name and DOB out of the press for 3 months? And no paparazzi photos either I'm glad they are getting some privacy in their private lives...

I have the same feelings ukaunz! It makes me happy that they can still keep some control of their life!
And I LOVE the name. It works, and wether or not it's a nod to Alan Turing, I love that posibility. I know Ben was touched by Turing!

Wow! Christopher.
Didn't expect to be right. That's funny.

Well, CCC

I don't know if its true, but I would find it very touching if part of the reason Ben chose Christopher was to honor Alan's Christopher. To, in a small way, let him live again and have a good life.

Aaawh. tonnaree, that is beautifully worded.

Beautiful and fitting name!

Yes, lovely name. I like it, when celebs christen their children with names they can actually live with. Normal names.

Yes, a nice name, Whatever the reason, I like it (not that my opinion matters, of course). I, too, am glad that they've had privacy, as they should.

Nice name. My oldest son's name is Christopher-- my Chris is 41 now.
I wonder, did S/B announced the name, or did it leak out or what? I did a brief internet search and couldn't find any evidence of an "official" announcement.

So it´s Christopher at last? What a cute name!
