And to go along with this good news is the fact that Chiwetel Ejiofor is also being honoured with a CBE as well this Saturday. He has also teamed up with Ben - he was just signed up to play a role in Dr. Strange - so they get to work together soon again.

It's finally official - as published in The London Gazette...
The link will take you to Page B2 so you have to click at the top and go to B9 and his name is 5th down from the top on the left hand side.
And I see that it is for his services in "the performing arts and to charity" so not just for his dramatic work.
Well, deserved and glad to see him acknowledged for his multi-discipline talents and for his extensive charity work.

So wonderful, I'm so happy for him! This, on top of the baby coming and everything else going well for him, it's really a good time for Ben! And so well deserved!

Congratulations Commander Cumberbatch!
I'm proud on his behalf!

Do you know how it is decided? Are people suggested?

Just let me say:
We always knew he was the Supreme Commander of this vessel.
Whisky, maybe this answers your question:
Nominations, submitted either by government departments or by members of the public, are divided into subject areas and assessed by committees comprising independent experts and senior civil servants.

I hope no one takes this the wrong way, but I was a bit surprised by him getting this award. He is still very young when it comes to acting ("only" been in it ten years, which isn't that much in that world). He has been active with various charities every year, but so has many other actors, I believe? He is a great actor and a true gentleman, but so is many others?
Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't think he deserves it - I wish him all the fortune he can have in his life. I just always thought such honours came to older men (and women) who had done similar things that Ben has done, only for about twice as long.

Chiwetel Ejiofor was awarded a CBE as well, he is 37. And there were several others in the same age range.

May I ask if there's going to be a ceremony for honouring the recipents? I am eager to see the sherlock's pair (ben & Steven) present with their honour together

Usually there is a garden party for all recipients and some of their relatives/friends around the event.
So there should be a good chance that they meet.

Hello Oscar Committee, that Eddie Redmayne got only an OBE, it's obvious whom the Queen loves better

I'm thinking it's at least partly because he's been involved with the Prince's Trust for no few years, and also the motor neuron disease charity likewise.

I don't know about the date. I know about the parties because a friend of mine attended one of those a while ago
