4. A film you could watch on repeat for the rest of your life?

In a movie theatre? That would have to be a German comedy with a German comedian called Didi Hallervorden, but I don't remember the title.

None. Because I believe that even the most boring or disturbing film can still teach me something – even if it's only how to not make a movie.

10.What’s your favourite movie director?
The Coen Brothers

12.A film that holds a special place in your heart?
„The Shawshank Redemption“

13.Your favourite comedy film?
„Home for the Holidays“. And basically almost everything with Peter Sellers.

15.A film everyone loves but you hate?
„Gone with the Wind“

16.A film you love but everyone else hates?

Both.

20.Old movies or contemporary movies?
Both, with a slight contemporary predominance.

21.A film with an amazing soundtrack?
„The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo“ and „The Mission“ (if I can also mention two)

You probably know that there already are two "Sherlock Holmes" movies by Guy Ritchie...? So technically there already is a sequel.

Re: Film Questionaire

1. What’s the most depressing movie you’ve ever watched?
Revolutionary Road (2008) starring Leo Di Caprio and Kate Winslet. It is about a frustrating marriage where ambitions are thwarted, desires are tamped down so tight that they appear absent and nothing (and I mean NOTHING) is ever discussed. Very, very sad movie. But a masterclass in acting. I was fascinated watching it but it was so depressing that I don't really know if I could ever watch it again. Still a really well made and crafted movie.

2.What’s the most disturbing movie you’ve ever watched?
Shoot the Moon (1982) with Albert Finney and Diane Keaton directed by Alan Parker. It contains one of the most violent, emotional scenes I have ever seen in a film (it isn't especially bloody or gore ridden – just realistic violence) and it has stayed with me ever since. It isn't that I hate the movie for it. On the contrary, I love the film – it is one of the best films made in the 80s. And with a cast like the one it has it gives them plenty to work with. But it is a brutal close-up look at the disintegration of a marriage (that on the outside looks ever so successful but was very unhappy for the husband and wife).
When the main male character (George) has a hissey fit and destroys a tennis court of Frank, the current lover of his ex-wife, Frank savagely assaults George in front of his own children. It still gives me a sick feeling thinking about this scene. The scene is brought into context and supported by the overall plot of the movie (so it isn't jarring in that sense at all) but I guess what I find so disturbing about it is it is so realistic and brutal. And the children had to witness it – very disturbing! Plus the children end up hating their father for how he left their mother.

3.An actor/actress you’ve seen in more than 8 movies? Name the movies.
Wow! There are quite a few actually.
For example for Actress:Meryl Streep is the one that I have probably seen the most movies of. Starting with her supporting role in Julia (1977), then The Deer Hunter, Manhattan, The Seduction of Joe Tynan, Kramer vs. Kramer, The French Lieutenant's Woman, Sophie's Choice, Silkwood, Falling in Live (that's the one I hate – it's a stinker!), Plenty, Out of Africa, Heartburn, Ironweed, Cry in the Dark, Postards from the Edge, Death Becomes Her, The River Wild, Bridges of Madison County, Before and After, Marvin's Room, One True Thing, Music of the Heart, Adaptation, The Hours, Lions for Lambs, Doubt, Julie and Julia, The Iron Lady, It's Complicated, Hope Springs, and finally... August: Osage County. Whew! That's 31 in all. About half of them we have seen them at the theatre, the others between watching them on broadcast TV or on DVD. And amazingly enough almost every one of her movies I have seen I have watched specifically because of her – didn't watch it for someone else and then see that she was in it.

Actors:Robert De Niro is someone who I have been tracking since the early 1970s. Starting with him in Bang The Drum Slowly and then on to Mean Streets, Godfather Part II, Taxi Driver, The Deer Hunter, Raging Bull, The King of Comedy, Once Upon a Time in America, (the horrible) Falling in Love, Brazil, The Mission, Angel Heart, The Untouchables, Dear America: Letters Home from Vietnam, Midnight Run, Jacknife, Stanley and Iris, Goodfellas, Awakenings, Backdraft, Cape Fear, This Boy's Life, Casino, Wag the Dog, Cop Land, Meet the Parents, The Family (that one was one of the worst movies ever made!!), and finally Silver Linings Playbook. 28 in all so not as many as Meryl but almost.

I could literally name dozens of actors and actresses that I have seen just 8 movies for.

Even Cumberbatch (who I have only been following a short while I have seen (on the internet) Dunkirk, Hawking, Starter for 10, Inseparable, Stuart: A Life Backwards, Van Gogh: Painted with Words, (at the movies) The Imitation Game, Star Trek:Into Darkness, The Fifth Estate, August: Osage County, 12 Years a Slave, (on DVD) Wreckers, To the Ends of the Earth, Parade's End, Third Star, The Last Enemy, (on Netflix) Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, Sherlock, The Other Boleyn Girl (on TV) Amazing Grace, Atonement, and The Whistleblower.

4.A film you could watch on repeat for the rest of your life?
First and foremost - Lawrence of Arabia, but there are dozens in a close second... Oliver Stone's Nixon, Casualties of War, Rashomon, Groundhog Day, Four Weddings and a Funeral, The Way We Were, Back to the Future (Parts 1,2 and 3), Solaris, The Blue Max, Doctor Zhivago, Dog Day Afternoon, Metropolis, Citizen Kane, Bridget Jones Diary,The Birds, JJ Abram's first Star Trek reboot, Six Degrees of Separation, Paths of Glory, Reds, Love Actually... I could go on and on.

5.What’s the very first film you remember watching?
Probably Bambi or Old Yeller at the show with my parents. First movie I went to on my own (well my sister was with me) The Sound of Music in 1965 but it was probably in our town about 1966.

6.A film you wish you hadn’t watched?
Oliver! - Dan and I actually walked out on that one. Don't like musicals.  Period.  And tied with that was The Family – we wished we had walked out on that (except it was so cold outside and we weren't in our home town so we didn't want to walk around for a couple of hours).

7.A film you wish had a sequel?
None. If it should have a sequel then someone would have planned it when they made the first one (like they did with the Back to the Future movies).

8.Which book would you like to see adapted into a film?
Well I am still hoping they will make a good version of A Prayer for Owen Meaney (the one they made – Simon Birch - was such crap that I don't count it).

9.The most aesthetically pleasing movie you’ve ever watched?
Lawrence of Arabia. And then after that probably Reds (1981) by Warren Beatty.

10.What’s your favourite movie director?
Steven Soderbergh, David Lean, Stanley Kubrick, Woody Allen, Robert Altman, Akira Kurosawa, Fritz Lang, the early work of Chris Nolan, a lot of Brian De Palma.

11.Your favourite movie genre?
Domestic life/relationship dramas, biopics, Historical Dramas (both contemporary, political ones and period pieces) and I like political themed Sci-fi movies as well.

12.A film that holds a special place in your heart?
Lawrence of Arabia – just love everything about that film. And tied with that one - Paths of Glory – introduced me to the genius of Stanley Kubrick.

13.Your favourite comedy film?
Probably Bridget Jones Diary.

14.A music video you would love to see developed into a film?
None – I don't watch music videos. Never seen one. Well that's not completely true – when I was a teen I saw The Beatles perform All You Need is Love (in B/W) live on the telly once. That was cool but I can't see how you could make that song into a movie... ??

15.A film everyone loves but you hate?
Batman... but really just any super hero movie. Can't stand those type of movies. That's why I am in such a quandary about seeing Dr. Strange!

16.A film you love but everyone else hates?
Quite a number of them... The Fifth Estate for one. Also Full Frontal by Steven Soderberg – everyone seemed to hate that one and I loved it. But there are many, more.

17.Which cinematic universe would you like to live in?
I don't understand the question... I like the universe I live in right now. It has everything I could ever want cinematically speaking.

18.What’s your favourite biopic?
Probably Lawrence of Arabia or Reds. Both great, great movies that inspired me to read more about their subjects. Oh and how could I forget Amadeus!! And so did TIG.

19.Mainstream movies or indie movies?
Both equally. I don't believe in shutting out half of the world.

20.Old movies or contemporary movies?
See answer to #19.

21.A film with an amazing soundtrack?
Amadeus.

That was fun (but frustrating at times trying to choose favourites - I take after BC in that way... picking favs is very hard!!).  Thanks for posting the questions.

You guys cheat by posting a bunch of movies and "Both" at several questions. I would've answered a bit differently if I knew you could do that, I thought the point was to choose one.

Re: Film Questionaire

Thanks Solar System for the advice.  I took your suggestiion, looked at a few answers and although I still don't understand it fully (maybe animated worlds vs. real world?? vs. specific comic book worlds???) I think I know it is something about a certain group/kind of pictures that I don't watch usually... so I think I will keep my original answer - I'll stay in the real universe, cinematically speaking.
