The only chance for me to attend the Sherlock convention would be a weekend from maybe mid November to sometime in December. I doubt that it will happen this way.

they could do a "christmas convention" ;-) then your chances would be good
(but somehow autumn or spring feels more like "convention" time to me, but as I've never been to one, I'm probably very wrong)

Is anybody going to LFCC at the weekend then?
I probably could, seeing as I live in England, but I'm ironically trying to save up money for the Sherlock convention xD

I live at the wrong place.

I technically could have gone, but I'm travelling up to Newcastle on that day.
Yes, I'm waiting to hear about the big one.

So, cumberbatchweb informs us that Sherlocked the Event have posted on their facebook page that the event won't take place this year (surprise!).
Though I can't see anything about dates in that post.

I didn't expect anything else. After this long silence ...

Did you get the information mail about the Sherlocked convention?
date probably end of April this year???
That's short notice, really. Even if I could get tickets, how to arrange everything?
I don't like the feel of it, it feels all hasty and not-so-well organised.
What do you think?

Yeah, got it too and was suprised. Impossible for me to make it.
That's going to be an event for fans mainly from the UK, I think. Really short notice.

I wonder why they annonced it so early, the convention as such, I mean.
With now only two months to go, it would have been fine to announce it autumn last year for the first time.
But keeping people wait for a year, and then it's such short notice that mostly the people who are in the area anyway can attend... well.
I will be in the UK exactly one weekend after the Sherlock exhibition in London ends, and well, now one or two weekends before the convention happens. And no setlock either. That's what I call timing :-(
Wasn't there talk in the beginning there could be events also out of UK? Never heard of that again. Maybe we should just do regional un-conventions on the same date :D

Maybe they aren't able to fix the actors for an appearance too far into the future? Could be understandable when you think about how much especially Benedict and Martin are working right now.
But it's true, I've never experienced such short notice with any other convention before. The dates for Star Trek conventions usually lie at least six months in the future. I suspect they have never planned something like this before. And I agree with gently, that way a lot of fans outside the UK won't be able to participate.

As I expected, it's not going to work for me.

*hides disappointment and admits that there was never much chance*

If they do it like a classic Star Trek convention, there won't be much else. Maybe a costume contest, an auction... but let's be honest, what more than guest panels, autographs and photoshoots can you ask for?
