Like Proteus - many different faces, althrough the same man:

Indeed he is. 

Problem is, whenever I see a picture of him, all the descriptions of him that automatically comes up in my head are things like "adorable", "lovely", "cute" - things that he doesn't like being called.

No background in the photot and you can barely see the collar of the clothes he's wearing but you instantly know by the face that he's being John Watson.

Probably enhanced but the colour of the jacket can be responsible for it too.

I don't know if it's the lighting or what, but in Sherlock, MF's eyes often appear to be brown. In reality, they're dark sapphire blue. You know the scene where John and Sherlock are coming to in the drunk tank, just before Lestrade comes in to spring them?  If you look closely, the lighting in that scene really shows Martin's true blue eye color. They're actually quite gorgeous.
 

It´s peculiar colour. It´s almost hard to call it blue.
