Well, if they showed me the guys in western costumes or coats of armour, then I'd probably be more fascinated than I am now, because it wouldn't make any sense to me in the context of Sherlock Holmes.

Ooooh, North Gover Street has signs up saying it's closed for filming 6th-8th of Feb!

What do you think - do they want to just mess with us, or is this serious?

I think this looks serious. And Vhanja mentioned a sign put up saying NGS will be closed for filming business.

This may be premature, but... WOOHOOO! (throws confetti)

You know what strikes me as quite funny? What we all love about BBC Sherlock is the modernization. Now we all go nuts at every slip of setlock in Victorian style
I probably shouldn't say this here, but actually: I'm not going nuts. I have all the faith in the world that Mofftiss will come up with something worthwile (yesterday I had the idea that maybe Sherlock, John or Mary will be telling a story to Baby Watson, and that story takes place in Victorian times...), but at the moment I'm just looking at those pics, thinking Okay, nice... Okay, apart from one of the very first pics with Benedict and the deerstalker, that really made me go .
Tbh, they could show me these guys in western costume or bathing suits or coats of armour and I would love it. These actors (and actresses) and their incredible team can pull off nearly anything.
Which does not mean that I do not want to see them in the world of 2015 or 2016 again. But I am open for everything as long as they keep the quality.
Just for the record I'd like to cast my vote for bathing suits.

Why am I not surprised?

Yes, armour would cover up the whole body and that wouldn´t be interesting at all.
Bathing suits are much much better.

*trying to imagine what sort of bathing suit Sherlock would wear*
Does Spencer and Hart do swim wear?

I think those minimalist invisible suits from the company "Adam and Eve Swimwear" would be the best choice.

Oh, I can understand him as well. And we have talked about this a couple of days ago when Martin's interview in which he said this was published. And I don't think it's a new phenomenon that part of the fandom says that another part of the fandom shouldn't stalk the actors on set. What shouldn't be underestimated here is a certain degree of envy though. "If I can't go to setlock, nobody should be allowed to go" - I'm sure that's what is behind a lot of the criticism coming from within the fandom.
Envy? Maybe for some, sure. But hearing Martin speak out about it actually made me flinch. Both Martin and Ben are Hollywood hot-shot’s right now. After the last couple of year’s they probably very much able to pay off their mortgages. There is also no excitement about getting their teeth into a new character. As they have all stated before, Sherlock is going to continue as long as everybody still enjoys making it and the BBC keeps financing it. So everything dimming the joy of either one involved in the production is actually endangering the further existence of a show we all seem to enjoy a great deal.
That being said, the setlock pictures I have seen till now showed only about 20-30 people standing around (which seems like a reasonable number of bystanders that are bound to show up if something unusual happens anywhere), half of them young girls, the other 40-something man with expensive looking camera’s. Either there is a very under-targeted fan group for Sherlock or the last group has nothing to do with the fandom. So I’m not quite sure if the frustration of some members of the team is actually linked to the current setlock or the past one’s (North Gower Street or Bart’s looked quite extreme from what I stumbled across on YouTube). They might be trying to take preventive measures in order to a slightly easier time filming, at least I hope so.

You know you just gave me the mental image of Sherlock in Borat´s "bathing suit", right? nakahara´s suggestion sounds about right..
I don´t really have an opinion about setlock.. I think people who are interested and have the possibility have every right to try and catch a glimpse of the filming as long as they follow the team´s instructions and stay as quiet as possible.. and the actors have every right to feel their work gets harder to do with all those people around and also express this.. as long as they stay respectful to the fans and acknowledge the attention it creates is also quite beneficial for the show as a whole. As it was, as far as I know.. so I guess all is fine more or less.

Much better than the imagine I had in my head of a more classic 'gothic' bathing suit... one of those full body ones

You guys... the Borat bathing suit, I had successfully deleted that from my mind palace...
It might not mean anything, BUT the twitter from Speedy's is hashtagged Season4, not shspecialsh. So that could actually mean filming for both at the same time, thus the mixed time periods in set lock pictures.

Oh, clever people. But that would mean that Sherlock has short hair in series 4 as well?

Well I could live with that...Benedict would be delighted!
