Heh, could be on purpose You never know with these guys.
And, yes, they are very pretty.
As someone said - I'll stop ship it when it stops shipping itself.

Yes, I've wondered before about the two of them being dressed almost identical. At least in Norway, that just doesn't happen.
Could be a Brit thing, I have no idea. But if not, then the producers et al were playing with us johnlockers, as always. Because two guys marrying each other might choose to dress alike, I suppose. It sure made for some nice johnlock photos. heh
I'm hoping it's not a Brit thing (and I think someone mentioned in another thread that it isn't indeed), because if it were, the fact that Sherlock and John dress alike as well would just be... ordinary. It has a lot more meaning (Johnlock, anyone...? ) if it's not the common thing to do - and neverthelss they're doing it.

Nobody can deny that they did everything possible to make Sherlock and John look as if they were the married couple. Not just the clothes, all the camera angles in which Mary is hidden or only half-visible. During the speech Sherlock and John are always in the centre. We get a proposal and a declaration of love and a vow - but not by the married couple.
And all this in an episode that threatened to quash all Johnlock hopes for once and for all.

I don't get why they didn't show us the wow's between John and Mary, or John's speech to Mary. Something in all of this that shows the love between John and Mary. I mean - the wedding is used just as a backdrop to let Sherlock tell how much he loves John, and only that. It is a weird decision by the devs, I have to say.

Oh, I get it: Because the show is about a Consulting Detective and his Blogger. And not about a Blogger and his wife. And the fact that the wedding is used as backdrop for Sherlock's declaration of love for John is just TJLC.

Well said.
I thought the whole wedding scenario was rather like something out of the Twilight Zone anyway-- totally dreamlike in a lot of ways. The way they were dressed, how they acted, Sherlock's long-winded speech, the hug, the strange yellow room with the blue and green flowers and birdies on the walls, the unusual lighting, etc. So while it screamed johnlock at me, it also didn't-- as though TPTB were saying to us, "Here's your johnlock, you shippers out there, but you know what? This ISN'T your johnlock, is it? Look there, John is marrying Mary, not Sherlock. And notice how everything looks like something out of a dream-- haven't you had dreams that look like this?" It was nice, but it wasn't. It was (to me) just kind of odd.
I give you this opening monologue from every episode of The Twilight Zone: There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.
But me, I'll take my johnlock in any way, shape or form I can . Bring it on, even out of the fifth dimension.

Devs?
IMO everything the writers, showrunners, directors and actors do is on purpose, carefully crafted to invoke whatever fan reaction they're going for. Granted, some of is turns out to be pretty hard to take, but a lot of it shows (to me, anyway) how clearly even THEY believe that Sherlock and John belong together and that the rest of this Mary crap is just that-- crap. They're toying with us, all of them. I have no idea where they plan to go with it in the future, but for now, I remain toyed with, and IMO we all do.

Well, the whole wedding is somehow odd, not only regarding Johnlock. No family members of John. John and Mary do not seem to know most of the guests. Some of the men look like thugs or nightclub bouncers. Inviting your ex as an usher. And so on …
To me it feels as if they wanted to do the wedding because it is Canon and has probably never been done in this way (and with Sherlock as best man) but then made it as strange as possible. They basically gave us nothing but the facade of a traditional, costly, heterosexual wedding - which would be in accordance with the fact that the bride was nothing but a facade as well.

Yes. An interesting bit of writing, wasn't it. And, again, IMO everything they had the characters do and say and wear was totally calculated and deliberate.

Oh yes, definitely. Nothing on this show just happens, it's all there for a reason.
