So this is planned to air around Christmas 2015, right? And the filming starts in January. I reckon the filming would last for a couple of months - why would they need half a year in post-production?! This isn't a Tolkien-movie with 1000 CGI shots to fill in for three hours.

There is not airdate yet. And the creators themselves have not even confirmed that it is really a Christmas special although it seems likely. And if it is indeed a Christmas special, this explains why it would air so long after shooting. The actors have other projects like Benedict's Hamlet run which will last about five months including rehearsals.

Hm, I think I saw on IMDB that it was set to air December 2015, but it might not have been confirmed.

This is absolutey possible.
Just take Benedict - he is doing the special, then maybe another film, then Hamlet and then they start shooting series 4. It was probably the only time they can get all the team together in one place which is hard and for which we have to be grateful. Not that I would not like a summer special …

The IMDB is not always the most reliable source when it comes to stuff like that, at least not at such an early stage.

Are the Mackinnon tweeds supposed to be related to the special? If so then he's fully on board of the troll vessel. Loved the cow picture. There is a canon story that features cows, or cow tracks to be more precise. Can't remember which one.

It was an Adventure of the Priory School. False cow track were used to cover the tracks of a kidnapper.

They are, as they are tagged "#ShSpesh"
Very interesting............

The caption of the cow pic has only two capital letters, A and A. Could this be an allusion to Amanda Abbington? Or something else? Any ideas?

Some information about location scouting:

No Scotland so far? Shucks.
They probably saw the highland cattle at Longleat... a place I love, incidentally.

Interesting tweets indeed... I am still losts though.
But I love the teasing!

Didn't Arwell tweet mysterious things last time? Could anyone work that out?
I liked the cow's hooves under horses in the story. Though Holmes' reasoning didn't make sense. He deduced that it wasn't cows because the tracks were cantering and cows can't. Well, they really can.

Wasn't it more about the prints and their spacing and depth?

Maybe I misremember or I misinterpreted it. I read it in translation. I do remember thinking: 'No, Doyle, you city boy, have you ever seen a cow?' Actually, now I think about it, there's a similar problem with Silver Blaze; the horse freed itself and started wandering around. A real horse would go straight back home. And it would know the way, horses have very good memories.

Maybe he was just a special, independent horse!

Maybe it's a horse of a different color!

Like Pegasus. Maybe that's why he won the race.
