Re: Johnlock: The Official Debate

I cannot live without brainwork. What else is there to live for? Stand at the window there. Was there ever such a dreary, dismal, unprofitable world? See how the yellow fog swirls down the street and drifts across the dun-coloured houses. What could be more hopelessly prosaic and material? What is the use of having powers, Doctor, when one has no field upon which to exert them?

Re: Johnlock: The Official Debate

Er, he was talking about their companions...the doctor isn't part of  a couple with his companion either.
But he always has a female companion.

Re: Johnlock: The Official Debate

I think one can misunderstand everything but his meaning is quite clear to me. And they mention a relationship and a marriage, so it is not just about companionship. And he is quite eloquent and could have used the word companion if he had wished to do so.
And the fact that Benedict does not identify Sherlock as asexual is not really new.

Re: Johnlock: The Official Debate

Oh yes, Benedict has always insisted on the latter...which is why he went on about Sherlock and Irene having a night of passion in Karachi.
Riversong is in a relationship with the doctor, is that right? She is not a companion.
He is never in a relationship with any of his female companions.
It's similar in Sherlock actually; John is married to Mary, but companion to Sherlock.

Re: Johnlock: The Official Debate

"different tastes in the sex of their partners"

You wouldn't use "taste" with friendship or companionship, would you? Definitely sounds like gay Sherlock to me.

Re: Johnlock: The Official Debate

Very much so. And please note that Benedict does NOT use the word "companion".

Re: Johnlock: The Official Debate

It doesn't say different sex of partners...just different tastes,,,in their sex partners...I actually have no idea what he means by that and would really like him to explain himself.

Re: Johnlock: The Official Debate

He said "different tastes in the sex of their partners", meaning Sherlock prefers partners of a different sex than Dr Who does = he prefers men if Dr Who prefers women.

Re: Johnlock: The Official Debate

The Doctor is at one point married to River Song (who before that is considered a companion in the Who universe) and at an earlier point is in love with Rose Tyler.

And I apologise...I should have my glasses on.
Though it's clear to me now that he means The doctor has a female partner and Holmes has Watson.

He's not really called Doctor Who by the way, he's "The Doctor".

Re: Johnlock: The Official Debate

Yes and it irritates me that they get this wrong on The Big Bang Theory!
Almost as bad as(and Benedict does it!) people saying Holmes and John or Sherlock and Watson.
