Finally had some time to write up the poems that's been sitting in my notebook for weeks now...


'Velvet Smile':

A smile of sweet velvet,
Always calling me to you,
Bringing me back home,
To your eyes so bright
That no one would believe
The blackness they cover.
But what can I do,
When I'm so tangled,
Up in you?
Left in these chains,
I brought myself,
Saying the strangest things
Like my freedom belongs to you!

'Fire' (Written after I watched The Hobbit - The Desolation of Smaug)

A fire inside,
Burning with delight,
Flames that lick,
And smoke may rise,
A darkness comes,
From this flaming glow,
A whip of a tail,
And all might seem lost.
Burning bone,
And turning stone to ash,
Leaving only dust,
And dark days behind.

'Still Heart':

Still my beating heart,
Kiss my bruises better,
Make my skin forget,
What your hands,
Did in the dark,
When you forgot my name,
But let me hand you,
A clue before it blows over,
My dear one, remember,
I love you still.

'White Flowers':

White flowers,
Growing,
In amongst the weeds.
Like a sheer virgin,
In amongst the rubble.
A light in this dark place,
Such grim clouds,
And metal fences.
This is where you grow,
Happily, blissfully unaware

'No We':

The initial heartbreak,
A cold slap to the face,
All the could have beens,
All the should have beens,
Reality is that you never looked back,
And neither should I,
But yet I find myself asking how you could,
I've moved on, just like you.
They blamed you for what I became,
I blamed me for you walking away,
And this is where we are,
There is no we, and there never shall be.

Just a few poems inspired a very special man in my life... 


'I knew...'

It was the thought of losing you;
For your sake;
That I realized just what you meant;
How you mattered to me...
And as I prepared my goodbye;
Endless tears fell... tears borne of love. 
For I knew it would be fair to you.
Fair for you to know the truth;
And me living without you...
Heartbroken but knowing;
You deserved to know.
But here you are still;
By my side and ready to fight,
To earn my trust you always owned... 
It was then I knew.

'She'

She is me;
More than I am her;
She see's through me;
With eyes so blue;
The colour of our common soul;
But for you I stripped bear...
Coming clean for once;
So vulnerable as here I stand;
Waiting for you to open your mouth;
Reacting to my opening. 
A liar unmasked;
With no shield left;
To ward off the cross I've to bear...

'Distance'

Determined to break the pattern;
To refuse to fill out your mold.
I wanted to be different from you;
And maybe I did try too hard...
Ready to colour my hair;
Paint my face just so no one could tell; 
That I was your flesh. 
I feel like I ran a marathon;
Just to put distance between us;
Yet here I am, still. 
But I am different,
As much as we look the same,
The little things I can't deny;
I know I have the heart you never had.
And unlike you I can't wait to one day;
Proudly raise a child;
Who never doubted my love.

Asking Why;


Why did she have to be,
The strong one?
Afraid of a moment of weakness,
Running from the tears;
That any child would cry.
Why did she grow up;
Believing she was far from okay,
That she had to earn every caress,
And that lingering feeling of a debt;
That she could never pay in full?
Why did no one look to see,
That little lonely child,
Who was all too sweet,
Too polite and too careful?
And why does she have to hurt him,
When he for the millionth time says to her;
That she is beyond beautiful,
And her only response is:
What are you trying to buy?
And can you tell me why,
Why does she even have to ask?

'Your Hands'

Your imaginary hands on my shoulders,
My fingers intertwining,
I feel so tall, 
Your strength rubs off onto me.
I have never felt so safe,
Breathing so freely, no obstructions,
Because I know you're there,
You have my back,
And you always will.
Your hands on my shoulders;
Allow me to take flight;
I can never fall now...

'Unicorn'

It may not be all bad,
The way I go against it all.
I was brought up on hate,
Judgement and misunderstandings;
Was taught everything I was, was wrong.
So just to spite I started loving,
Became incapable of judging,
But I respect I'll forever be misunderstood. 
I am one of those who can never fit in,
Not even with the very people I stand with,
I'm too pink to be hardcore,
To special to be called girly. 
Not straight at all,
But where am I within the LGBT's?
But I think I will stop worrying,
Because I am what I am...
And it may have taken 24 years,
Just to accept this,
But the most important thing is;
I don't care what you think anymore.

'Broken Man'

I am angry, I am hurt,
More than you may ever know,
But you're the sweetest heartache,
And those tears on your cheeks,
Why can't I be the one to wipe them?
I heard you whisper,
Oh, if only I could hate you,
But I never could,
Cursed I am, to love you forever,
My broken man,
Too broken to love another,
Your good heart torn apart,
Why can I not be allowed,
To be the one to mend you?
