Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

People on tumblr are having a fit over these photos and interview.  Apparently they feel it's all terribly insulting to the fans.  Ben himself didn't say anything bad about the fans but apparently the interviewer was an ass.

And both of those photos with "fans" are totally photoshopped.

Ben can't seem to get the message that his Sherlock fans are sensitive to criticism from him, that they care about him as a person, not just an actor, etc. And pooh poohing at them and their feelings about him in various interviews is quite unattractive. Maybe he needs to send himself to a Superstar 101 course and learn how to deal with his new reality.

He's in the US now, stumping for TIG. I saw him on Good Morning, America this AM, and it was painful to watch. He was very stiff, appeared to be kind of bored, could barely smile, told the perky, female, very polite interviewer that it was for me to know and everyone else to find out (he actually said those words) about how he and Sophie became engaged, and just generally looked wicked uncomfortable. It's too bad. Quite possibly I'm reading too much into the way I think he looked and acted, of course. Maybe he doesn't do mornings, who knows.

Maybe he's just tired and jetlagged. It seems he flew back and forth between the UK and the US several times during the last few days and weeks.
As for Ben criticising his fans: I didn't read anything like that in that article/interview in the NY Magazine. He probably should stop talking about his fans altogether, because the media obviously gets a kick out of interpreting anything he says about his fans in a negative way. And IMO that's exactly what happened here.

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

That picture of them together is gorgeous!

As for the fans and that interview, I read it too and honestly I only read it as the interviewers view on his fans...
The pictures are staged obviously, who knows if Ben even knew they would 'add' the girls to it?
I agree, the media should stop about the fans, but apparently it gets a rise out of 'us' and it gets them read

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

Probably the wrong place for this but:
"That's for me to know and you to find out" is simply a way if saying "Mind your own business" - fair enough, imo; he gets to choose how much private stuff he reveals, not us.
He's jetting back and forth between the States and UK, filming RIII, and promoting two movies; he's tired but imo he's mostly coming across fine - I know if it were me I'd be so tired I'd probably end up weeping!
People - even some "fans" on social media, are finding fault with everything he says and does (even stuff he hasn't actually said!) and being pretty nasty about him, and about Sophie.
Make no mistake, he DOES know this; IF he seems like he's stepping back a little from the fandom to let it calm down a bit, I wouldn't be at all surprised - though I personally think he's the same multi-faceted, normal, human BC that he's always been.
I'm just beyond tired of people looking for a reason to hate him.

I always thought "That's for me to know..." etc was one of the most enigmatic and amusing terms...
I used it  a lot when I was young and thought I was cool and mysterious!

Yep! It ranked alongside "up your nose!" In edgy ways of telling people to mind their own business when I was a kid:D

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

These people are not fans, they are spoiled insensitive brats.
And obviously they decided for the last two months or so to take offence over absolutely everything Benedict tells or does, whether he is joking or being gloomy.
Funny how they are insulted over stupid newspaper photoshop which is not Benedict´s fault, but they themselves post absolutely cruel and insulting things about him on Twitter and they await that he would just mutely suck it up and smile at them afterwards:

It seems they can dish it out but cannot take it.

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

I guess you could say that by now he should know how the media will deal with the stuff he says about his fans. We've had this before. Then again, he probably has far more important things on his mind.
But apart from the way in which the interview was edited in terms of his fans... I think that whole article tells us nothing, absolutely nothing new. I wonder why he even gave that interview, there is nothing of substance in there.

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

Yes, the article was an absolute trash.
But this still doesn´t explain the extreme" pissiness and hissines" of Benedict´s "fans" lately.
And their inability to recognise an obvious photoshop is stupid:

That post (and responses to it) sums it all up for me:

Smart as hell... yeah... some of us are I guess.

But that aside.... I love how his cheeks sort of wrinkle when he smiles and talks.
