Lovely! I want to go to London.

I've wanted to go to the UK since The Beatles hit America in 1963, but I never have. Family vacations always ate up any available vacation time and $$$, so I've been to Disney World a couple of times, plus out west 2 or 3 times to visit the in-laws, and up into Canada.  Now with an empty nest and a bit of money to spend, I'm not healthy enough to do that kind of travel. My advice to you young'uns:  go while you can-- find the money and the time, and just do it. You won't regret it.

Re: The Imitation Game

Thanks, ancientsgate. And sorry to hear about your health. But as I already booked a trip to Poland to watch it there with a friend in December I simply could not go to London as well.

Re: The Imitation Game

I've been to London once.  Sadly before BBC Sherlock exsisted.  Haven't been able to travel a lot while the kids were growing up but hopeing that will change in the near future.

Re: The Imitation Game

I was lucky to be in London in October last year. Without that I had never ... watched TFE there, discovered Benedict's voice, bought Sherlock S1+2 in the original version, got hooked, registered in this forum, got to know all those lovely people, made incredible new friends, had that much fun ... etc ... etc.
I'm a big fan of London and try to go there as often as possible.
But of course it's easier and cheaper to travel there from Germany instead of the US.

Otherwise I have never been to the US which is a shame as well.

But all these don't change anything. I can't watch TIG before January. And hopefully I don't have to wait until the start in Germany, which is the 22nd. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Sorry.

Oh Susi, you're going to Poland? Great news May I ask to where exactly are you going, to what city?

Yeah, but plan it. Even if the plan puts you there in five years, make a concrete plan to make it happen. Otherwise, the years will turn into decades, with time rushing past you like water running downhill.

Re: The Imitation Game

I have been to London quite often and always love coming back. I will go there next year in September to watch Hamlet.
And your are right - one should not put off things if possible but try to live in the present and make the best of it.

Re: The Imitation Game

Yes, London has something special... I have been there twice this year and problably twice next year...
But Poland in December can be magical, too....

September 2015? Really? What a coincidence.
I have a tattoo for that. Meaning ... "Live your life now, don't say maybe someday."
Life can end so quickly, unexpected (as I know a very sad example), so I try to realise everything as soon as possible. And London is THE town for me.

Could not agree more, gently.

And I am looking forward very much to going to Cracow. I have been to Poland twice but never there.

Re: The Imitation Game

I'll be in London from November 27 to 29 so I should be able to see it there. Tickets are already on sale but so far only for the week from November 14 to 20. Any recommendations for a nice and cosy cinema in London? I don't really like big cinemas...

New Telegraph interview mainly concerning Imitation Game - quite nice:

I cannot live without brainwork. What else is there to live for? Stand at the window there. Was there ever such a dreary, dismal, unprofitable world? See how the yellow fog swirls down the street and drifts across the dun-coloured houses. What could be more hopelessly prosaic and material? What is the use of having powers, Doctor, when one has no field upon which to exert them?
