Ask me. I am new to Sherlock fan fiction (writing) and OMG ... in English anyway.

Are you writing a PWP, silverblaze? A non-explicit PWP? Must be a first.
Haha, amazingly I had an idea that doesn't involve the first P. So I don't have either P, it's basically just a W then . It's a first scene and a last scene, and nothing in between.
I must say I really like the prompts and the deadline. I'm always writing and trying to make stories but the deadline actually forces you to finish something and the prompts just make you more creative. It kinda forces you out of your self made box.
For the people who feel stuck, maybe this will help: connect the words from the prompt in a random way and then work out what the connection could be. Or connect one of the words to an iconic element from the Sherlock canon, or London, or Christmas. It doesn't have to be a masterpiece or your ultimate vision or something, just make something creative and fun. Not that I'm an expert, but this is what helps me anyway.

It'll be very interesting to read the W, silverblaze.
Seriously, I have my story roughly outlined and jotted down a few plot-related ideas, and it's going to be much longer than anticipated. Of course, now my teeth are making trouble again and it's rather difficult to write when you're clutching one side of your face. But I'm not whining- I love the challenge and we've got lots of time this year, after all.
Today, it's also a very helpful distraction from the fact that The Imitation Game will open the London Film Festival tonight...

Thanks to my yoga class yesterday I have the complete fic written in my head. I used the first meditation phase to mentally write the first part and was just done with the end when the meditation phase in the end was over.
Okay, maybe I should have felt my middle or my energy flow or something else instead, but that way it was more relaxing anyway.
Now all I need it time to write it down ...

A few sachets of Brufen 500 mg in powder form can stop some quite hideous pain in my experience. Hope you get better soon, Kerkerian.
Schmiezi, I'm no expert on yoga, I didn't know meditation and plotting were the same thing . Meditation seems so much easier now. Anyway, yay for yoga if that's what makes the creative juices flowing. Now I'm picturing this whole thread upside down behind their computers.
Running is also very good for the brain, but running and plotting (or thinking for that matter) doesn't work so well. Actually, running and doing anything is probably a bad idea.

Thank you, silver. I think it was triggered by a bad headcold, but I've gotten some strong pain medication now. I have been doing research for my story this afternoon (instead of doing house work ) and I'm very happy now, since everything seems to be coming together. Might however be the drugs.

Talking of drugs (hope you're feeling better, Kerkerian!), it occured to me while I was writing away happily last night that I may be running into trouble with the rating, so I just wanted to quickly ask what the policy is for fics to be posted here on the board.
I know we're not being explicit in terms of sex/porn, and I'm not going to write any gory violence either, but what's the limit when it comes to
a) drug use and
b) language?
For example, can I make a character say "What the f*** are you doing here?" or would it have to be "What the bloody hell are you doing here?" or even just "What in the name of heaven are you doing here?"
Susi... ?

Well, we have no general policy for that but we have been discussing drug use extensively on the board so there is no problem with that. I do not mind the f-word either as long as it is a quote or in the context of a fic, i.e. not used towards members which has never happened as far as I know.
So as far as I am concerned, both things can go into a fic.

Thank you, Susi.
I'll be fine with the language issue then.
I'll be sending you a PM about the other.

That's good. I already used the f-word.

Hi everybody. Are you all still all right, and just busy writing?

I for one am very busy writing, and loving every minute of it.
It's all due to the fantastic prompt.
How's everyone else?

Yes, dear, busy like a bee. (Yes, that was a canon nod).
Btw, do we have a pool of willing beta readers? I would very much love a native speaker to have a look at my fic before posting.

Slow going, I have a habit of overthinking and leaving much of my writing to the last minute , but I will finish it! Getting lots of lovely ideas from this prompt!

Not really. I have just bumped the thread hoping to find betas who do not also write for the Exchange. I mean, big thanks to those who volunteered, but it would kind of ruin the "secret" part of the Secret Santa Exchange for them, wouldn't it?

I shall start a thread for it. Maybe there are people who do not read this one because they do not take part but would be willing to help us.
