Good deductions all, and thanks for the welcomes. Yes male (and don't mind being outnumbered), yes American (but Grandma is from Ireland), but no, I wouldn't say I LIKE Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes, I'd say I LOVE him in the role (and Martin as Watson too!).

Hmm. I really don't know. Oh, I'm sorry, did I say 'know'? I meant 'care'. I don't really care.

I dislike being outnumbered. It makes for too much stupid in the room

Correct you are - John Straker was the crooked horse trainer in "Silver Blaze". Back in the nineties on "Hounds of the Internet" everyone used a 'nom'. I choose Straker since I was working at a thoroughbred race track at the time, plus "Silver Blaze" was one of my favorite stories in the Canon. Still use it as a 'nom' on Welcome Holmes & now here.

Re: Old time Sherlockian on new board

Thanks, straker---Silver Blaze is one of MY favorite Holmes Stories. I recall reading it  just last week,  and your user name must have subconsciously reminded me of it.    Even tho it has been done on screen before, I am hoping that BBC sherlock will  film it too.  I  know what you mean by 'nom'  because  in almost every fan site I play on,  there's a 'kitty' in my user name in one form or another.  Enjoy our forum!!

Re: Old time Sherlockian on new board

Greetings Howard!

I can totally vouch for this guy since 1) we're both on WelcomeHolmes together and 2) I first met Howard IRL in NYC at the Sherlock Season 2 PBS/BBC panel featuring Steven Moffat, Benedict Cumberbatch and Sue Vertue (read my review of the event at Always1895 - Batches of Cumberbatch Dispatches). Howard is an excellent source of Sherlock Holmes information (especially film adaptations) and will be a great contribution to this message board.

But wait a second - who am I you might be asking yourself? I just joined this Sherlock message board an hour ago and was reading the recent Introductions (before posting my own) when I noticed "Straker".

Be seeing you Howard.
