You too Harriet?!   My husband and I were both weeping through the whole thing.

When Six feet Under first aired in Germany, my sister-in-law had just died of leukemia, age 24. Understandably, Hubby strongly refused to watch the show and still does.

Re: Your favorite movie soundtrack/ theme song

There are some parts in some episodes I cannot watch. But it's one of my favourites ever.
And of course it can stir up emotions.

Mine too. I watched every episode at least three times and I still cry every time at some moments.

Re: Your favorite movie soundtrack/ theme song

Okay, I stopped watching Six Feet Under after Season 2, don't really know why... and now I guess I'll have to continue. Most series just suck at the end, it seems to be really hard to create a decent last episode... but now I'm really curious about this finale...!

Re: Your favorite movie soundtrack/ theme song

There are a lot of places in SFU that were hard for me to watch.  Having my husband with me helped a lot.  He was in the funeral industry for a long time and it was very interesting to get his perspective on things.  Sometimes wonder if I would've started watching it if we hadn't beent together.  It may have freaked me out too much to try.

Hubby was also a forensic investigator for a police department for a chunk of his life.  But don't ever ask him to watch one of those CSI shows.  All he can see is what they are doing wrong!!

Oh yes. And still so much sensitivity and so much humour as well. I'm not good in watching violence scenes at all, so I know when to cover my eyes

Oh yes.  I LOVED this one.

In high school I used it for a media project.  Made a power point presentation of some poems I wrote using it.

What kind of poems? About Richard Bach's book?

Re: Your favorite movie soundtrack/ theme song

one of my all-time favourite movie soundtracks is the one from "The Pink Panther" (1964), composed by Henry Mancini. Love that one (and not only the famous pink panther tune)

No.  Just some personal stuff.  But the music went well with them.

But I am a long time Richard Bach fan.

Re: Your favorite movie soundtrack/ theme song

Ramin Djawadi- Pacific Rim Main Theme.

I haven't watched the movie myself but was in the room when my partner did, and the music was so enthralling- I downloaded the theme and keep listening to it in the car.

Ramin Djawadi also wrote the score for Game of Thrones, by the way.

Another all-time favourite of mine is Chevaliers de Sangreal by Hans Zimmer, from The Da Vinci Code:

And of course, for all the fellow browncoats among you the theme from Firefly:

Re: Your favorite movie soundtrack/ theme song

I have a few soundtracks which are much more than amazing ...
"Welcome To Jurassic Park", composed by John Williams: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msimASAXoys
John is the god of the composers ... the most talented of all composers for me!

Other soundtracks I adore:

The Theme of "Das Boot" (The Boat) by Klaus Doldinger: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snnwjoToN-8

"The Legend Of Ashitaka" by Joe Hisaishi (Princess Mononoke): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6y85Er8-5yk

"Victory" by David Arnold (Independence Day): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9-tu-7V9jQ
Oh ... I adore the whole soundtrack :D

Sweet! My hubby took my daughter to see it years ago (for a 'bonding' sessions, right), he fell asleep in it! Enough said!

Re: Your favorite movie soundtrack/ theme song

Not so much a soundtrack, but a wonderful use of existing music in a film: I loved this clip from Tell No One (Ne le Dis a Personne).  Probably best not to watch if you haven't seen the film but are planning to, because it is a spoiler.

The film is based on a Harlan Coben book about a man whose wife is murdered.  Years later, he appears to get a message from her showing her on CCTV and is a murder suspect himself ... what I love about the music here is that the actual song itself is his clue to what to do next (and I imagine it's playing in his head as we're listening to it), and the words fit so well with the story and what is happening on screen.   It's just brilliant.  If you haven't seen the film, I'd highly recommend it but don't watch this clip first!  (It's one of my favourite scenes in the film).  If you have watched it and want a reminder, enjoy!

Although, I must admit, I never watched the movie, but I love this song.

The same goes for Mark Knopfler - Going Home from the movie Local Hero.
