Me too! I haven't been this eager to see a Movie in a long time.
I know it will be difficult though because I'll be not just sad, but angry too.
I'm so glad he's playing this role, because I know he'll have done his absolute best to do justice to Alan.

Same here, Tinks.
But it's weird... I really think that this movie will be an emotional roller-coaster ride and probably hard to take. Nevertheless I'm looking forward to all those emotions, sadness, anger, whatever. Because I think it is a treasure these days when you go to the movies and what you see on screen is doing something to you emotionally.

Re: The Imitation Game

And yes ... we know that Benedict is going to transport all these emotions perfectly to the audience. There are a few actors I like to watch films with but honestly noone ever convinced me in her/his roles like Benedict did. He doesn't only play the characters he transforms into them!

I'm kinda excited because this is a Benedict movie my husband actually wants to see with me.  He's fascinated by the subject matter.

Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!
My hubby seems the only one not being interested ...
Maybe later on DVD ... but he won't go to the cinema for it.

Same here. Although my boyfriend actually likes a lot of Benedict's movies... from TTSS to STID and TFE. He's a history buff, but hadn't heard of Alan Turing before I told him about the movie. And now he's really interested.

Re: The Imitation Game

I think my husband will watch it as well. But only after I have cried with some of you.

Understand.
I'll have to go see it by myself at least once so that I can sob freely.

That would indeed be brilliant.

Re: The Imitation Game

I would love to watch this film with you, girls. All my family and my friends are not interested in this type of movie so I will end watching this alone.

Re: The Imitation Game

Luckily my best friend would like to go with me

But I'm not sure she could handle a too emotional film... we were in stitches after going to see August Osage County together... not to mention the time I showed her TRF

Re: The Imitation Game

I'm going with my sister, and I'm sure some of my friends from university would be interested in Turing's story, so I'll probably watch the film several times. Almost none of them knows Benedict (sadly) so I'm excited they'll finally see him, playing such an extraordinary person

tonnaree, that would be great

Re: The Imitation Game

Most of the time, I actually prefer going to the cinema alone. I'm a movie purist, so for me it's not about the "cinema experience" (i.e. I don't need popcorn or nachos), it's about getting immersed in the movie and live in another world for 90+ minutes. I can best do that if there's no one next to me who might lean in and whisper something or who starts fidgeting because they end up not liking the movie. It's also that I almost always watch movies in English, and most of the people I know prefer to watch movies dubbed because they don't understand English well enough to get all the nuances. I've gotten used to it and really don't mind.

Re: The Imitation Game

I don't go to the movies to eat or drink or talk during the film, either. But I think it can be very satisfying to have someone to discuss the film with afterwards, in person, not just on the internet.
But then probably everyone has a slightly different moviegoer philosophy.

Re: The Imitation Game

Same here, Solar.
People who join me for cinema also know how to enjoy a film in proper silence. Didn't had any problems with family or friends so far.

Solar, that wasn't a problem that was pleasure.

EDIT: So adorable!

But I'm sure I will get the story as well.

You're too sweet!

I'm sure the story in combination with him will be a deadly mixture...

Re: The Imitation Game

Definitely, Solar.

I watched 2 films of "Unsere Mütter, unsere Väter" yesterday. Do you know them?
Well, they are about war and completely different of course. I really had to struggle with them, but nevertheless I found them worthy to watch.

TIG will show us another point of view and I think it will be the first film about war and anything around for me, which isn't placed on battlefields. And of course it's part of Alan Turing's biography. Because I am convinced of Benedict's brilliant acting skills this film will be a gem!!!
