Oh I've seen that one come up but the summary didn't really grab me. If you enjoyed it though and find it of equivalent value to N&N I shall definitely check it out!

I have read two thirds by now and like it very much. Lovely humour as well.

I'm up to Chapter 10 and really like the spare sentences of Sherlock's narration and the sadness underlying it all. Going back to it now....

I've never read a fan fic like this one (Albion and the Woodsman). Super-short chapters that just fly by, and I love Sherlock's voice. I suspect it's actually the author's voice, but I don't care-- it amuses me. I had to share how this made me smile:
And then she [Molly] showed me nine different videos of Toddy [her cat, whom Sherlock thought was named Twinkles, lol] doing precisely nothing in her flat. It was actually very interesting because I deduced Toddy realised he was being filmed and didn’t protest, which illustrates clearly that I was still not one hundred per cent recovered because I can’t deduce what cats are thinking. No one can.

I have marked many quotes in this fic. Something for the favourite quotes thread. Some are hilarious, others moving.

Warning......might be a spoiler if you haven't started reading "Albion and the Woodsman" yet.
Here's a passage I thought was quite lovely: When John returns to Baker Street after his therapeutic "walk around the world":
John kept his luggage in Lestrade’s car, because until he arrived he wasn’t certain if he would be welcomed. The luggage was now waiting in the hall downstairs after I reminded him that there was always room for him at Baker Street, and that Albion especially would love to have him stay.
“You can sleep in your old room,” I said with no satisfaction at all.
John Watson’s face dropped a little. “Oh. Right. Good. Thank you.”
Then I took a good breath and put my dignity on the line. “Or you can sleep in my room with me and Albion.”
(I made that sound quite unimportant but it was in fact an incredibly difficult thing to say. John Watson and I are not terribly competent in handling our feelings for each other. We’ve made adequate declarations once – John, when he asked me to be his best man, and me, when I gave a speech as his best man. I also told him I loved him just before he walked around he world but he couldn’t hear that, so I don’t know if it counts.
In any case, we’re British men. We have no skills for deeply felt, heart wrenching declarations. Our heritage has failed us miserably in ascertaining what is actually happening between us.)
“You don’t mind?”
“Not at all.” I made it sound like I was lending him some tea towels.
“Right.”
John Watson smiled. And that was that.

I love that passage, too, KP. Btw, we have a new favourites quotes thread. I just posted some of my favs from the fic here:

I think that this has not been reccommended so far. It is a wonderful proof for how cute porn can be. Angst, hurt, comfort - all there.

Rating: Explicit
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson
Characters: Sherlock Holmes, John Watson
Additional Tags: Misunderstandings, Pining, Mildly Dubious Consent, Anal Sex, Oral Sex, First Time, First Kiss, Angst
Summary:
Written for this promt on the kinkmeme: "After Mary's death, John moves back into Baker Street, but is still upset at the loss of his wife and child. Eventually, he and Sherlock may stumble into a sort of relationship, but it's more physical than anything and they don't talk about it.
They especially don't talk during sex.
If they are going to have sex, Sherlock notices the signs hours beforehand, and he prepares carefully. The lights are off, they're under the covers, he prepares himself using lots of lube so he can make it feel as much like a woman as he can, and he doesn't let himself make any noise so that, if John wishes, he can pretend that he's still with Mary."

Yes, I liked that one, too.

Oh yes I've read that one twice. Misunderstandings is my second favourite trope :-)

Not sure if this one's been rec'd already; I've lost track. It's relatively short-- just 3 chapters, and a nice, unusual romance, post-S3, post-Mary.

Featuring an older J/S. I liked its "forever" feeling. All the sex is like PG-13 rated, for those who prefer that.

Thank you, tonnaree, this is really an amazing fic. I could not wait and read it chapter by chapter but I think I will have to read it as a whole again.

The authors' fic warnings [tags] make it sound very unpleasant. Tell me it ain't so, please.

I had read the first 3 chapters and then decided to wait till it was completed.
Going to re-read Be Here Now and then go right through the sequel.
So happy!

Well, the warnings are entirely correct and yet it is a very well written and exciting story. I would not call it unpleasant but if you do not like to read such angsty stuff, it may not be the right thing for you.

Why did I have to come to work today when there's so much fic to be read?

Very nice Johnlock fic: emotional but satisfying, with tons of hot scenes, interesting twists on S3 (especially on HLV) and what I especially like is a contrite but possessive attitude of John towards Sherlock (who is described as being in love but not being reduced to a dishrag). John´s relationship with Mary is a bit unbelievable, but I really don´t mind - I find John begging for Sherlock´s attention later in the story too cute to care about Mary at all.
