John and his Therapist

You see John meeting with her at the beginning of “A Study in Pink” and then at the end of “The Reichenbach Fall.” I thought this was a clever way to bookend to Seasons One and Two.
 
However, in Season Three you don’t see him there anymore. It makes me wonder why he stopped going? I would assume it is because he is no longer haunted by his time in Afghanistan and that he has moved from Sherlock’s death.

He did not stop going altogether. When he talks to Major Sholto in TSoT there is the following dialogue:

SHOLTO: No more need for the trick cyclist?
JOHN: No, I-I go now and then. Sort of a top-up.
(Sholto nods.)
JOHN: Therapy can be very helpful.
