If it's any consolation, I doubt he's a heavy smoker - he's supposed to have got nicotine poisoning when filming the smoking scene in SiB, which suggests he's not used to smoking lots.
Could be wrong of course...

Any amount is a deal breaker for me. I get the impression he started smoking when he started doing Sherlock. I read some earlier interviews where he said he wasn't a smoker and a later interview where the interviewer basically said he chain smoked his way through the interview.

When I see a picture of him smoking, I imagine just how bad he smells (and tastes...) and it's a turnoff. I'd rather live in my la la la la la land where Ben is the perfect man and pretend I don't see pictures of him with the ciggies.
