It's love. Oh God Yes. It's the last part of their bonding process, and with Sherlock's smile it's absolutely clear that they understand each other, that they belong to each other, that they complement each other.

Re: The comprehensive Johnlock guide (Johnlockers only)

And now again for some serious scientific study. There are two songs playing in series 3 - "Donde estas, Yolanda?"

Where are you, where are you, Yolanda ?
What happened, What happened, Yolanda ?
I looked for you, I looked for you, Yolanda
and you're not there, you're not there, Yolanda. x2

Your eyes gazed at mine
your lips kissed mine
with desire and passion,
the passion of a woman.

The sparkle in your eye
the fire of your lips
conquered my heart and I fell in love with you.

Where are you, where are you, Yolanda ?
What happened, What happened, Yolanda ?
I looked for you, I looked for you, Yolanda
and you're not there, you're not there, Yolanda. x2

Where are you, where are you, Yolanda ?
What happened, What happened, Yolanda ?
I looked for you, I looked for you, Yolanda
and you're not there, you're not there, Yolanda. x2

They tell me your were cruising in your new car,Yolanda ;
looking very pretty and all the men whistled at you.

If someday I was to find you
I wouldn't know what to do
and I think I will go crazy
if I never see you again.

Where are you, where are you, Yolanda ?
What happened, What happened, Yolanda ?
I looked for you, I looked for you, Yolanda
and you're not there, you're not there, Yolanda. x2

And "December 1963 Oh What A Night" sung by The Four Seasons:

Oh, what a night, late December back in '63
What a very special time for me
As I remember what a night!
Oh what a night,
You know I didn't even know her name
But I was never gonna be the same
What a lady, what a night!

Oh, I got a funny feeling when she walked in the room
And I, as I recall it ended much too soon
Oh what a night,

Hypnotizing, mesmerizing me
She was everything I dreamed she'd be
Sweet surrender, what a night!

I felt a rush like a rolling ball of thunder
Spinning my head around and taking my body under
(Oh what a night!)
Oh, I got a funny feeling when she walked in the room
And I, as I recall it ended much too soon
Oh what a night! Doo dit doo dit dit doo dit doo dit dit
Oh what a night! Doo dit doo dit dit doo dit doo dit dit
Oh what a night! Doo dit doo dit dit doo dit doo dit dit
Oh what a night! Doo dit doo dit dit doo dit doo dit dit
Oh what a night,
Why'd it take so long to see the light?
Seemed so wrong, but now it seems so right
What a lady, what a night!
I felt a rush like a rolling ball of thunder
Spinning my head around and taking my body under
(Oh what a night!)
I felt a rush like a rolling ball of thunder
Spinning my head around and taking my body under
Oh what a night! Doo dit doo dit dit doo dit doo dit dit

So we basically get a song in which a person is searching for a lost love and another one in which a person falls in love with someone whose name they do not know.

Hmm ... not sure what it might express then ...

Re: The comprehensive Johnlock guide (Johnlockers only)

Well, as for the first song - I was laughing when I watched this because the music as a background to John wrestling Sherlock the floor is quite funny. But as so often there is a second layer beneath that. The melody may be happy but the text is about losing someone you love which is what happened to John (and in a way to Sherlock as well).

The lines in the second song remind me of Mary - John falls in love with a woman whose name he does not know. And in way it ends all too soon because his image of her is shattered only a few weeks later when she shoots Sherlock.

Maybe this is the wrong thread but it struck me how subtly they do those things. And how you always have to take a closer look.

Re: The comprehensive Johnlock guide (Johnlockers only)

I would agree that the first song definitely is about John and Sherlock. "Where are you... what happened... you're not there... I think I will go crazy if I never see you again..." - that would be John's thoughts after Sherlock's 'death'. And partly also Sherlock's thoughts in regards to John. Those lines express loss, pure and simple.

These lines from the second song would be quite nice for Sherlock and John

Re: The comprehensive Johnlock guide (Johnlockers only)

Ha! I actually wanted to copy and paste those and comment on them, but your explanation with Mary sounded quite convincing.
But yes, they'd be perfect for the boys. And of course, you could always change a lot of the "she" to "he" and lots of other lines would also make sense für Sherlock and John.

Re: The comprehensive Johnlock guide (Johnlockers only)

Yes to all that. It could really apply to John/Mary and John/Sherlock. The stuff that fanfics are made of.

Re: The comprehensive Johnlock guide (Johnlockers only)

Of course. It goes from John/Mary = not even knowing her name = disillusionment to Sherlock/John.

Scientific as always.

That's really nice and heartbreaking. But again ... fine in fandom ... not imaginable for me ... in the show.

I have no problems whatsoever to imagine that.

And, yes, Solar, a bit of h/c would be quite nice.

Absolutely. A scene like that on the sofa would work perfectly for me. We already were on our way to that in TSoT. Okay, there was no h/c involved, and I think I'd really want some of that...
