Er...an Alternate Universe fic set in a Coffee Shop?
Offline
Obviously ...
It sounded a bit like there's more to it, like certain tropes that always come up in Coffee Shop AUs or something.
(Of course, I could have simply read the fic to find out myself, but I am too absorbed by SilentAurors fix-it fics. )

Okay guys I have deleted all the responses on the Masterlist so that I can re-organise it all into genres or something. This will be a project that takes me a bit of time (obviously) but I needed to be able to post several extra replies to have them all at the top of the thread.
So my apologies to those whose posts got deleted - it's nothing personal I promise!
ETA: I have now edited only the first post (the single chapter fics) into the formatting provided by AO3, and have matched the information for non-AO3 links.
Do we like it, or is the old format better?
See post here:

And now for a very now one, written by the incredible Ivyblossom and Loudest-subtext-in-television (you can guess what she writes about). Unusual POV, really different and so well written. Read it!!
I was a bit disappointed to be honest. I found the second person future tense thing too meta. I couldn't actually get into the scenarios they were painting because it felt like there were too many people in the room. I loved Ivyblossom's previous work so much because I felt like I was in Sherlock's head, or John's head. this felt like I was reading a fanfic with half of tumblr on live webcast chatting about what was going on!

Yeah, I couldn't read it, gave up after about 10 minutes of trying. The POV thing loomed large in my reading, and frankly, I couldn't relax and just read-- the POV was too odd. What was that supposed to be, some kind of god-like POV or what? I've read 1000s of slash fan fics in the 10 years I've been reading them, written more than a few myself, and I have never run across a POV technique like that. I do give them kudos for originality, anyway!

Well, I really like the idea for once to write from the audience's POV. It took me some minutes to adjust but then it was fine. But I understand that it is not everyone's cup of tea. And it is a good thing that there is so much fanfic from which to choose.
It is a pity that ivyblossom does not write hardly any fanfic these days. Therefore I am very happy about authors like Silent Auror who is enormously productive and excellent at the same time.

This one was dark and emotionally painful but in the end I found it very satisfiying.
Offline
I agree. Quite extreme in every respect but well-written.
Offline
I was half in tears thorugh most of it.

That was ... interesting. Thanks for recommending it. I don't see both John and Sherlock that dark, but it was written very convincingly.
Plus, it was hot.

Has someone already recommended this one?

I must admit I've been a bit head-in-the-sand with regard to post-season 3 fics or fix-it fics. My head canon just wants to forget season 3 ever happened. I liked the season 2 canon!!! /cries
But that one does keep popping up in most of my searches so I have put it on my Mark to Read Later list on AO3....when I'm in the mood for some...whatever it is.
Thanks Schmiezi!

I've only read the first chapter so far, and I've read similar sentences before, but nevertheless this just broke me completely:
"I want." Sherlock takes deep breaths. "I want everything. I want to take you apart and write my name all over the inside of you so that when you're put back together you'll never forget that you're mine and that I had you and that you're mine."

Yes. This is … intense.

Yep, at that point I just shattered. And stayed a wreck for the rest of the story.

I already thought about a new thread with favourite quotes from fanfics. There are sometimes things that stay in my mind for very long.
