Re: You know you're obsessed with Sherlock when...

LOL.
But his voice would give him away. Maybe he could do Cockney. Or American. That would be so funny.

Re: You know you're obsessed with Sherlock when...

He did American in The Whistleblower. It made me want to cry. *sniff*

John: "Fantastic."
Sherlock: "Meretricious."
Lestrade: "And happy new year."

"Oh, but we both know that's not quite true"

That's strange. Americans don't HAVE an accent. *ducks all the shoes and runs away laffing*

You guys ever heard the American accent the Aussie actor Alex O'Loughlin uses for his role in the current TV show Hawaii 5-0?  I try, and I can't catch him in any Aussie-isms. He's good! I could hear Australia in Heath Ledger's attempt at American quite often-- he must not have had quite such a good ear for it. I would *love* to hear Benny's American. I'll go to NetFlix and see if I can find The Whistleblower.

Re: You know you're obsessed with Sherlock when...

I saw a cute saying on another site today and used it on my husband tonight:

"Honey, I'm sorry all I do now is talk about BBC Sherlock - but not sorry enough to stop!"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And I said "dangerous" and here you are.

You. It's always you. John Watson, you keep me right.

Re: You know you're obsessed with Sherlock when...

Be prepared to clench. It sounded WEIRD. I don't think it's on Netflix, but I think you can find the bits on YouTube. Whatever you do, DO NOT watch the entire movie. It wrecked me. It's all about sex trafficking in Serbia and Bosnia. It's HARD.
I don't think Americans have accents either...till you get down to North Carolina, then you need a freakin interpreter.

His whole voice changes...it was..unsettling.
And there's a clip somewhere of him doing a southern accent... YEEP

I live 50 miles from Boston and 5 miles from Maine, so.... but naaaaah, we don't have accents. If anyone from NC finds their way up here on vacation, hopefully *they'll* have an interpreter!

I'll check out you tube. Thanks for the warning about the movie-- it sounds worse than a toothache.

Re: You know you're obsessed with Sherlock when...

Liam Hemsworth lets his Aussie accent creep into his Hunger Games role at times but maybe only another Aussie would catch it. The Aussie accent seems to be a hard one for people to imitate, they usually sound Cockney or Souh African.

You know you're obsessed with Sherlock when logging onto this site is the highlight of your day

We do, we just don't THINK we do! I can hear my accent after watching Sherlock. He also does American in the audiobook The Rediscovered Railway Mysteries (which I haven't actually heard too much of, just the sample on iTunes) and it was...bizarre.

I actually think about getting some nicotine patches, despite having given up cigarettes long long ago.

Also, I built a mind palace.

Heeeeeeeelp meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Maybe I'll make an appointment with my doctor. "Help me, Doc, I have Sherlockitis, and it's running right alongside Watson Fever!"

Prescription: Watch Series 1 and 2 on alternating days, drink much tea, avoid eating apples, and if all this doesn't help, wrap yourself into a crisp white bedsheet and hope for the best.

Sherlock: "I need to get some air, we're going out tonight."
John: "Actually, I've uh, got a date."
Sherlock: "What?"
John: "It's where two people who like each other go out and have fun."
Sherlock: "That's what I was suggesting."

When you go to the Doctors and you're disappointed because there's no Doctor Watson.

You know you're obsessed with Sherlock when...
...you have to admit that your acute stage of Sherlockitis meanwhile has progressed to a chronic disease which you're, nevertheless, not willing to be cured from - and when you consider this forum as a self-help group to be the only acceptable remedy.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
John: "Have you spoken to Mycroft, Molly, uh, anyone?"
Mrs Hudson: "They don’t matter. You do."

I BELIEVE IN SERIES 5!

Re: You know you're obsessed with Sherlock when...

When you get your "I believe in Sherlock Holmes" key chain in the mail and try desperately to hide it because to be quite honest, everyone around you is tired of hearing about it.
When, despite that people are tired of hearing about it, you talk about it.
And, when, after months of searching, you do a happy dance because you've FINALLY found a Union Jack pillow like John's for less that 30 bucks and snap it up faster than a fat kid with Banoffee Pie.

Hmm. I really don't know. Oh, I'm sorry, did I say 'know'? I meant 'care'. I don't really care.
