I see him both ways. For me, in certain photos, cute is just the only word. But in others.........more than a tiny bit sexy.

I sure do find him attractive, so I guess cute means different things to different people. Maybe here in New England, cute means something different? lol Puppies, kittens and little babies are cute. Shirely Temple was cute when she sang The Good Ship Lollipop. *shrug*

I think it's the fact that his face is kinda round with a knobbly nose. He's also not that tall for a guy, and his walk is a bit waddly. (And I mean all of that in the most endearing way). The fact that he recently portrayed a Hobbit with a tendency towards clumsiness doesn't help either.
I was really happy to see him play Lester in Fargo, because it pays homage to his acting skills and does away a little bit with that cute, amiable Hobbit image.

Yeah, no, I don't do Hobbits, so I paid no attention to that role at all. In fact, I've really only ever seen Martin as John Watson, who can be a BAMF with the best of them at times, and I'm not familiar with his other stuff. He's never been much of a presence in American TV and movies (the Hobbit thing is recent, and as I said, I don't go there), so I've missed out on most of his career. Nice to see him on American TV in Fargo, even if it was a gruesome thing I couldn't watch. *rolls eyes* I think he's terrific as John, love the subtlety of his acting and how he uses his face to portray so much more than one might expect from a lesser actor.

Surely 'cute' means different things to different people, just like 'Johnlock' means different things to different people. In "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" Martin at times is more than just a little helpless and yes, the word 'cute' might come to mind to describe him in certain scenes.
It certainly isn't a very... manly adjective, but in certain scenes in certain films I wouldn't really hesitate to use it for Martin.

I don't think Martin likes being called cute, but I agree, why the complaint?!

Cute.

Ah, yes, another film I know him from.
I also find Benedict cute on certain pictures. When he was younger and had softer facial expressions. I say cute, also in German, when any actions of Martin or Benedict touch my heart. And from his looks Martin isn't a guy where I would say:"What a man!"
So, just leave it to me, will you? Don't worry, if it ever happens to me meeting Martin in person I'll pull myself together.
Promise, ag ...

Plus... the finger.

Yeah, he seems like a very real, candid person. on top of that, the things he says are just so smart and cool. I'm amazed by how mature he is about Johnlock stuff.
Um.. does the smiley face mean you're interpreting the finger not as **** off, but as something else..?

He's a professional.

that's true. I get the feeling not all the professionals who work on Sherlock are as chill about Johnlock as Martin tho.
One time someone shoved explicit Johnlock fanart in his face as a joke, and while all the guys next to him saw it and were horrified, Martin said "I know it. I've seen that one."
So cool.

Sounds to me a bit like you're talking about 1 of Martin's appearances on the Graham Norton show, in fact possibly both of them.
I don't think he encourages it, you understand.
He just accepts it's there and alternatively laughs at or ignores it.

lol
Those fans who do that make me cringe. Ugh. They need to grow up already. Thank god, Martin has already grown up, lol again.

Yup. The norton show.
He actually said it was cool once. I think he supports all artistic endevours and is really open-minded.^^ That's what I got from one of his panels anyway. But it may be he's also said some bad things about it, I'm not sure.. I'm not a shipper myself, but from what I've seen he handles things with alot of grace.
Lol I looked at the Norton interview again and found this..“It will be in your mind forever,” Norton commented.“If you’re lucky,” Freeman replied.
Talking about the explicit picture. Very graceful indeed. : P

I am primarily a Johnlock fan fic afficienado. Some of the art is okay, some of it I like, some I don't, and of course, all art is like that, very subjective. I don't do porn, and it bothers me when I read where people think all Johnlock fic and art is porny, because it isn't. Anyway, fortunately, Sherlock has a huge fandom, and as far as I can see, there's something out there for everyone!
