Well, I hope this doesn't sound too pissed or anything (and this probably isn't the right thread for this anyway), but IMO he maybe shouldn't continue to do conventions if those panels make him feel too weird. I get what he means, at least I think I do, but the fans he's sitting down with at a meet & greet table aren't anymore real than the fans who are at the panel. I can understand why it feels different to him, but still... would I like to be one of those fans at a convention panel who make him feel weird...?

Now you sound as if he'd make a difference between fans and fans, but I think he's only making a difference between those situations. And I'm fine with that.

Yeah, I guess that's how it sounds, but it's not what I meant.
So I'll just say that I'm hoping he's doing the things he's doing because he really wants to and because he enjoys it - clare already said this in a very articulate way - and not because of some external necessities. And now I'll shut up.

Can't say it better Solar!

Exactly my opinion, Solar.

Ah, right.
Well, I read on twitter that he said he won't do stagedoor after Hamlet next year because it's too much. (Not exactly, but in the meaning of it.) So there you go - he only does what he wants. And I love it.

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

I agree. I'm glad he stood firm on that. Fans can be reeaaally overwhelming, and I'm impressed he's kept his cool and in control all these while.

Mattlocked, I read that, too, and I think it's a wise decision. He surely knows what's best for him.

This one is lovely! So many lovely tales coming from the con. One girl thanked him for helping her through tough times and he said to her "always believe in yourself, I believe in you"

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

Clare, I agree with what you said before: he's a hero and a role model and I love him
I stand by the comments I made this morning: I do have concerns for him, but equally, I think he'll be OK
He's trying to tell us that sometimes he struggles with the attention and with us all wanting a piece of him, especially as he thinks he's so ordinary - I get what he's trying to say and I love him for it.
I think it's a good decision to let it be known he won't be doing the stage door and really hope that people love and respect him enough to understand that it's the right decision - I hope we don't see any snarky comments about it.
I really wish him so much happiness and I hope he knows how many people genuinely care about him.
Gosh - he makes me ramble on at times!!!

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

We will! And we need to be vigilant guys, there are media reports coming out picking up on the therapy thing, bloody twisting it. I will not post, I will NEVER post.

This is when I truly hate the fact I work in the press. They disgust me with their need to play with the truth to suit sales or hits or whatever it is that makes them money.

We know the truth, we know how amazing he is, what a wonderful soul he is. And I will fight his corner to the bitter end.

I've picked up on a few media reports too. But hey, at least we know the truth.
