Looking really good! I love the shading, especially on the helmet.

Well guys it's all change, I've not been entirely happy and I've just found out why - the eyes are too high on the face, the helmet edge should be lower.
Just erased the offending area in the hope of getting it right!!
Wish me luck! If you don't see another pic today you'll know I've messed up royally!

Well it looked bloody brilliant to me!
Good luck with the new attempt though

It's going horribly right now.
I'll post later the result and you can judge for yourself....it marries with the photo but it doesn't work on it's own!

I can't wait to see it; but sorry that you're struggling with it! Good luck with your work!!

I'm just envious of anyone who is remotely creative! Look forward to seeing the finished work

It's so weird! I've folded the picture in half vertically and it matches on both sides. Take it away and it looks, well, wrong!
It's all kinda pinched. Tearing my hair out!!!

Do you do an art class at all? Anyone you could ask advice from?

I think you're being way too hard on yourself! It's great, honestly - I'm in awe!!

I really can't see a thing wrong with it; it looks amazing! Especially when you compare it to the picture! WOW!

Yeah I'm still searching for perfection....
I'll keep going! Update later ;)

Yeah but would HE like it? That's what I'm aiming for....if I'm not happy he won't be....
Offline
I bet he would! He would be really impressed I'm sure!!

Don't give yourself such a hard time! I think it's VERY good!
Such a shame that we are always our own worse critic. I'm the same with my art and writing.

I think the thing is I know I have it in me to do something like those guys on deviantart (check out Meike Zane) but I just can't seem to make it happen.
It's so frustrating....

Ah, but were they that good from day 1...I very much doubt it! They practised and practised and kept at it. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither was talent (unless you are exceptionally gifted!), and you need to work at it. You have a brilliant start already so just keep at it. The more portraits you do, the more you will learn and improve.

Thanks sweetie.
Finished product by tomorrow I'm hoping. It's actually starting to look like it should, like putting the body on and shading it with the face is making it more acceptable. I can't keep drawing just Ben tho. My husband is saying I'm obsessed! (Oops...)
