Hello from Paris !

Hello everyone!
I'm a 20 years old girl, coming from Paris (France).
I'd really mixed feelings after watching the last episode of the season 3...
Especially towards Mary, she seems to be the most controversial character of the show, it's quite interesting!
For the first time, I felt the urge to read a lot of metas about it! And that's how I found the forum haha Actually I'm checking daily the threads. I confess that it's almost the most entertaining moment of my day... the rest of time, I have to work my law homework. unbearably dull.
Sorry for my poor English, I'm unfortunately not a native speaker

Hello and welcome to the forum!
I hope you will have a lovely time here! And don't worry, most of us are not native speakers - and your English sounds fine to me, by the way!

Re: Hello from Paris !

Thanks Tonnaree
Actually Watchmen is one of my favourite comics. And I love Shelley's poem too.

Re: Hello from Paris !

It comes from Shelley's poem called "Ozymandias", but it's also the name of a great character in Alan Moore's comic "Watchmen". Actually I'm kind of besotted with this poem since I'm 15

I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,

And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read,
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed,

And on the pedestal these words appear:
'My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, Ye Mighty, and despair!'

Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away."

Re: Hello from Paris !

Bon soir! Bienvenue! Shelley...what a scandalous but brilliant poet he was. I love this poem too...all it says is so true. I am a big fan of Mary (Shelley, that is).

Don't make people into heroes John. Heroes don't exist and if they did I wouldn't be one of them.

Re: Hello from Paris !

Welcome, Ozymandias, I really like the poem. Hope you have fun here. There is quite a lot of discussion going on that will hopefully help us with the wait for series 4.
