No apparently not. The lady who runs Cumberbatchweb spoke to him at the Cabin pressure event (envy!!) and wished him luck with it and he said it wasn't happening.

I was quite looking forward to a desert BAMF Ben

I admit it's not his type of movie though. But then again, Ben strives to diversify his filmography so I can't say much.

Would be nice to know of a definite project he's working on though - a lot of his rumoured Movies seem to have trouble getting off the ground.
(Plus I'm getting withdrawal symptoms!)

Star Wars...? Really now...? Well... I'd love to see him and Gary together on screen again, but I'd rather hoped that would be happening with the film that Gary has (or had?) in the planning.
But okay, I love (almost) everything that JJ Abrams does, so... interesting. And there alsways is the chance that Benedict will turn BAMF in Star Wars, right?

If Ben does end up in Star Wars, I wonder if I'd love him as a villain or as a Jedi. I think he'd rock a Jedi role! On the other hand...

Mini rant here - it's annoying me that a small number of people are complaining that "he's in everything" - No he's bloody not! He's had a few fairly small roles in what turned out to be some if the biggest Movies of last year (not his fault if he makes good choices!) and has ONE confirmed Movie due for release, we don't know when - after working hard at his craft for years, why are some people so grudging of success - I hate this "don't cast this or that Actor " nonsense - they have to work, the same as anyone else!
Sorry about that...
Solar - I'm keeping everything crossed for Flying Horse, but in the meantime, being cast in a big project might be a step nearer to helping secure the funding that's needed - if BC becomes a really big name in his field, that will be another factor to hopefully attract backers ?

Same with me. I do not know what it is worth, but they list "Flying Horse" again on his IMDB page. But no further news.
Tbh I am not so enthusiastic about all those Hollywood franchises. He did Star Trek and the Hobbit which is really enough for me. But I take what I can get.

Don't get me wrong, I like Star Wars very much (I'm not a huge fan though) and I wouldn't have the slightest problem with Benedict being in it. I do have some general reservations about doing Star Wars once again, because IMO episodes I to III just sucked. But it's JJ now who's doing it, so I think something really good could be the result.
In the end, I'm pretty confident that Benedict chooses his roles with care, and even if he decided to do a project like Star Wars just for fun and because he's a fan and loved Harrison Ford as Han Solo and all that... fine with me.
