I find that I cringe watching most interviews with celebs. When they get the same questions asked over and over, or really stupid ones. Ben is really good about it, though you can see that Martin is often close to despairing. Unfortunately, it's all part of the job.

I very rarely watch celeb interviews for that very reason - I'll watch the odd clip if someone's highlighted it as being particularly funny or interesting, but mostly I find them cringeworthy, too.
The celeb is asked the same questions over and over yet people criticise them for being bored.
Or they're expected to tolerate ridiculous questions completely unrelated to the piece of work they've just produced and behave like a performing monkey, or again be criticised for not being a good sport.

Martin's subconsciously correcting the height differences every time he's with BC! XD

Lol! Bless little Martin!

I agree on the celeb interview thing - I liked his Graham Norton interviews because of that, they're a little bit different.

The question is this - what would you ask him? One question, and one question only?

I would ask him what would be his dream role, and what role would he never touch?

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

Very nice pic
And good questions too!
I'd ask if he sometimes finds it depressing to play certain roles.
I've recently watched him play Van Gogh, and the depression of the character was so palpable, I often wonder if this sort of role gets into the Actor's soul a bit.
Also, what, if anything has he learned from the Actors he's worked with and when he first started working in TV did he find it hard to adapt from stage to small screen?
Oops - that's 3 questions. - I'm being greedy now!

I think that depends on how the actor approaches getting into a role, but I know that for actors, it can become a bit of a problem.

This has little to do with Benedict, but I run a Chris Marquette fansite, and I recall that Chris once talked about his role in the movie "The Invisible", where he played a college kid who was being bullied for owing money, and was no stranger to depression. The movie was also shot in Vancouver when it was cold and rained a lot. Chris said he tended to isolate himself from the rest of the cast more so than usual because of the gloominess surrounding the character he played, and after a while that took a toll on his own mood and well-being. Apparently, it wasn't a very pleasant time for him. And I can toally see how that might happen. That's probably part of being a very dedicated actor.

And on a cheerier note. Benedict with kittens. (Could be photoshopped, though I'm not sure.)

Oh, and on the topic of being asked about his sex symbol status (which I assume these gifs are about), the Sherlock Tumblr tag also presented me with this:

@teejay - your posts are always so insightful
I've heard other Actors say they've found it hard to shake off particularly gloomy roles and I totally understand that.
Loving Kitten-batch;)

Some of them are like works of art!!

Thirded (is that even a word?!).   I have been struggling with mental illness since January and my Benedict obsession has been massive in helping me cope.  Not being the most technically capable I am loving seeing all the different pictures you find from who knows where and I am grateful to you al, for keeping them coming.  My admiration in finding them even when BC isn't in the news so much!!

Anyway, less of the sentiment, on with the pictures, thank you all!!!

My favourite question to ask anyone is 'what would be your specialist subject on mastermind?'  I think you get to find out something that is a real interest/passion for them and helps open up the conversation.

I would love one day to be able to ask him

Insightful? Really? Most times I feel like it's just irrelevant nonsense flowing from my brain to my fingers. But thank you.

And on the topic of what actors find difficult or not difficult (and please don't ask me why I'm retaining this information, I think my Mind Palance delete key broke), Willie Garson once said that the hardest part about the scripts you work with isn't learning your lines, but forgetting them, once you move on to the next job. I also thought that was an interesting angle to look at it.

He's only as untouchable as we make him and in my dreams he is never far away from a friendly hug or funny comment to make everything ok again.

Oh dear am concerned I sound like both a crazy lady and a stalker.

He needs to do a fan meet with just the people on this forum

I can understand that too, it must be quite a life to lead, to have to keep putting on and taking off different masks, as it were.
Some Actors, of course, scoff at this idea of getting under a characters' skin like that, and claim they just learn the lines, then go do it - I tend to think these are the ones who seem to be the same person in every role , though!
I've said this before, but watching Actors like Benedict, makes me really regret never having taken a drama class or joining an Acting group!

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

Hope it's not too intrusive to post this - I'll happily delete if anyone thinks it is - but I've just seen a tweet from a journalist saying that Benedict was in the front row listening to a particular lecture yesterday, and made me go weak at the knees
I love that he's so intelligent and so keen on learning - mind you I'm sure I'd feel completely stupid in his company!

I saw that too Tinks, about Assange and The fifth estate I believe? Great he's still engaged, shows commitment to the cause even after his work is done.

This website is so distractive yet addictive!

I've been sat here for half an hour, with my college work open, but I've done nothing, I'm too engrossed in catching up on the posts from this morning!
