I had not noticed until you mentioned. Thank you for drawing my attention to this mesmerising thing (sorry can't think of a better word, too......busy.....watching...breathing, hmmmmm....thudOkay, everybody...I may have a tuffy for you...within this post is a link on Vimeo to our B.C. in a fantastic bit of a play, but my query is about THE MUSIC that plays at the outset, climaxing just before Benedict's voice is heard.
It sounds like an offering from Ryan Farrish in the beginning, then becomes more complex, like Paul Schwartz's "Magnificat" from his "State of Grace II turning to peace"...oh, it is SO beautiful, does anybody have ANY idea who the composer is???
Oh yes, that is a tough question. In that clip you don't hear all that much of the music, in the original screening you see and hear Ben talking about the play before the scene starts and you can hear much more of the music. Don't know though if that longer clip can be found on YT or anywhere...

Oh Solar System, Special One, thank you so much for your efforts on this beleagured topic!
I am DESPERATE not to just hear more of that particular bit, but rather want to know WHO composed that music & could I buy a CD of it?!
-I'm telling you, if you give an ear to the music at the beginning of the clip & pay attention to it until it stops, when Benedict speaks, it is quite moving...I mean, REALLY!!!

I know, Harobed, the music is really beautiful. Just yesterday I went to a screening of that whole "NT - 50 Years on Stage"-evening again, and that music (in connection with Benedict talking about the play) once again sent shivers down my spine. Maybe you could write to the National Theatre and ask about the music they used?

You are aptly named, my friend!
Solar System...what a spark of an idea...to actually reach out to thee NT itself...well...'tis a matter of desperation, then isn't it?
How far am I willing to go to have a go at that music?!
Ha, well, All The Way, as I shall endeaver to now begin to climb up out of the muck & mire to the aspiring heights of the upper elchelson of that good theatre to aquire the knowledge of WHO WROTE THAT HEART-WRENCHING MUSIC, FOR CRYINBG OUT-LOUD???!!!
Ha, ha, you'll find that I'm a bit of a dramatic person...leaning on the arm of humor...
Seriously, though, the adventure begins now in ernest, and I shall dutifully inform this fansite of my progress.
