Oh I don't know - I think he photographs beautifully; he's got that uniqueness of look that is popular with fashion photographers, great hair, skin, eyes and gracefulness.
The thing is when he takes off the Acting/Posing cloak he seems to try almost to shrink, if that makes sense - like he's trying to hide - so I think that's why some of the more candid shots don't show him at his best, unless he's seeming quite relaxed with the people he's with (but then how would I know about a complete stranger??? It's just an impression I get and I could be wrong).
Acting is definitely what he does best though
Wouldn't say no to seeing him in a Hugo Boss commercial, mind

He does photograph beautifully, but would we take second looks at him if we didn't know how fine an actor he actually is? It does take a certain type of photographer to capture his elegance or innocence. Plus, some photoshoots try to overdress him! XD
Foo, is it getting hot in here?

*Fans self* I absolutely agree. A lot of what makes him fantastic does get lost in stills; his face moves beautifully and he can pull so many amazing expressions! And all the life in his amazing mysterious eyes...
And that voice, the accent, his choice of words... I am putty in his hands

Uuhh, his expression in the model-shoot.. and his posture in the gifs..
Must... not... get... naughty... thoughts..

Yes, good point.
Personally? I think he's quite enigmatic and it can take a while to "get" him - and different roles or looks clearly capture different people.
If I'd seen some of these shots, for instance, before I'd seen Sherlock, I'd have thought he was a very attractive man - I didn't really like his "look" when I first saw Sherlock, I don't think the camera angles are always very favourable to the Actors and because I knew Martin Freeman as an Actor, but not Benedict, I have to say I was more drawn to MF at first and didn't really get what BC was trying to bring to the role.
Having since seen him in TTSS, the wonderful Hawking and as the stunning Khan - I now get that he's a potentially brilliant, Oscar worthy Actor with a very versatile, very appealing look, but it's the stills of him that first woke me up to how beautiful he is.

While I'm relatively adept at using this, should we come face-to-face with the ultimate knockout, coma-inducing photo ever makes an appearance.
We'd make a good resuscitation team yet, Phantom!

I feel so much safer in this thread now!

Just found this card designed by Ben for an auction, with the note written within.
I'm so completely in love right now.

I never knew a man's handwriting could be so, so alluring...

This man simply is too good to be true.

(The cards made by other celebrities can be seen here.)
Such romantic quotes, I imagine he chose those quotes because he believed in them, because they reflect his view on life, or at least his principles.
I just can't...I just...I mean...I don't know what...

At last - something he's not so good at - handwriting
Love the quotes, though

For a man his handwriting is nice...very expressive but then it would be, being an actor.
Loving his design, very pretty ;)

I agree, his handwriting is quite neat for a man! At least it's legible.
It's definitely something else I love about him. :3

The card is beautiful and I think he took lots of care with writing. Because he is quite famous for his nearly illegible handwriting. Remember the "Please disturb" note on the door of 221? The whole team laughed about that.

Not sure if this has been posted before...

I approve of Benedict in Converse ;) it's just another reason to add to the 1,000 others why we should be together
(Speaks an addict of converse herself...)
