(Sorry if there's already a thread for this. I didn't see it, but there's an awful lot to look through.)
I enjoy it when Sherlock (the series) gets mentioned elsewhere unexpectedly. Here are a few examples:
1. A while back I heard a story on NPR (National Public Radio in the U.S,) about how Sherlock was popular in China.
2. Again on NPR, In a non-serious intro to a story about the Superbowl, one person says, "You know what's happening on TV Sunday evening, right?" "Downton Abbey?" "No." "Then, Sherlock."
3. On Brooklynn Nine-Nine (American sitcom), we see on the screen that a character has Sherlock on his DVR preferences.

I don't know if it fits here; but apparently some woman in Denmark did a whole scientific study on Sherlock and it's success. -And on Johnlock I think too...
I would post a link to the articles I read on it, but they are in Danish sadly.
