1. What is your favorite word?
Uhm.... splunge?
2. What is your least favorite word?
Probably those I consider mispronunciation buzzwords I hear at work on a (too) regular basis, such as syringe (SYE-ringe), analysis (AN-e-lye-sis), accompany (a-KOM-pe-nye) and discrepancy (DIS-kre-PANT-see). Ugh. Can you see my toenails curling?
3. What turns you on?
Good-looking men who are kind. (Duh?)
4. What turns you off?
When someone doesn't get the credit they deserve.
5. What sound or noise do you love?
Celtic harp.
6. What sound or noise do you hate?
Anything loud and obnoxious. A jackhammer is pretty high on the list.
7. What is your favorite curse word?
I can't really say I have a favourite. I probably use the f-word too often, but saying it in Germany isn't quite as poignant as saying it in an English speaking country, I suppose. I say "Oh, bloody hell" quite a bit too.
8. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
Funnily enough, we talked about this in the chat the other day. I'm not sure I would want to make my hobby into a profession, because then there's the danger of it becoming a chore. Sometimes I think about whether it'd be cool to go back to working in a lab as a scientist, but then reality check sets in, and I'm happy with my job. For a while I was considering web design, but I'm glad I didn't go that route.
9. What profession would you not like to do?
Paramedic, doctor, nurse, or anything else where you have to tend to people's needs in a time of distress. Okay, that sounds like I'm a sociophobic, cold-hearted jerk. I'd like to think that's not the case, and I'm sure no Sherlock. I'm a very rational person and not good with emotionally charged situations.
10. If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?
Well, you moron, I do exist after all. Gotcha!

I must say, I've never heard this turn of phrase before. I can imagine people get more confused than shocked (unlike f**k which is mostly just used for shock value). Very creative cursing

I have actually been a preschool worker and I have to say, it can be a lot of fun. With smaller child-adult ratios, the experience could be more positive for the kids but most centres/schools don't have the budget for it.
The most difficult part is patience; hence why I am no longer working in childcare (not patient enough).

I would actually love to work with kids (I actually did; I worked for the childrens ward at the hospital; in the section that worked with Childhood Obesity... I LOVED when I got to interact with the kids; I even got to take the blood pressure on several children as a part of a research project).
I just don't think I'd like working as a teacher or anything to do with school... my experiences at school were terrible so I'd rather stay a million miles away to be honest.

The actual "teaching" part of teaching isn't hard. It's the relating part of teaching that's the most difficult. I've been an adult ESL teacher & found it difficult to empathise with my students who were absolute beginners. They never tell you this because they think it's too obvious but empathy is the most important trait to have if you're gonna be a good teacher.

Or indeed for working with children in general..I'm a classroom assistant.
