Sherlock is about like Harry Potter to me........

.....In that I keep rewatching the episodes, just like I kept rereading Harry Potter books.  At least 6 times for Potter.

Until this season though, I did not try to scour the episodes for clues.  Well, I guess this season is different in that it is not three discrete stories, but one long one with asides.

I was so impressed with some of the fan theories on how Sherlock survived the fall, that it triggered me into trying to figure things out myself, which is made easier in that I have a week or two between the clue and the next episode.

I was able to pick out several things about Mary:  skip code, orphan (which they did a good job of beating you about the head and shoulders with), but had her motives all wrong.

I have found the hunt for clues to be a distraction from the gradual development of Sherlock's more humanly traits towards others, and John in particular.  But, I guess I'll pick things up after the 5th review of the series!

Anyway, I've found this place now, so I'll be checking in.

I did think the thing about stabbing someone without them feeling it was a bit of a reach though.

Later.

At school, a teacher told us of a story about a friend/family member who was a butcher & butchers will carve meat vertically, slicing downward while the meat is hanging from a stick or something. Anyway, this butcher sliced a bit too enthusiastically, missed the meat altogether & the knife ended up in his thigh but remarkably he didn't feel any pain. She thinks it has something to do with the angle of insertion of sharp object.

Our muscles are like fiber so if you cut horizontal across ways, splitting multiple fibers, it bloody kills in terms of pain but if you slice vertical affecting only one strand of fiber & not actually breaking that strand entirely there is a chance that you might not feel it.

I agree that to have the same stab performed twice on the show with both recipients not feeling anyting is a bit of a stretch, unless the stabber has had some form of military or fencing training

Thanks for the welcome.  Regarding the muscle though, first you have to penetrate the skin.  Call me sensitive, but it's pretty damned hard to break my skin without me knowing it.  I can see an initial shock masking the pain, but, pretty quick, the pain arises again.

Somehow your story of the butcher reminds me of the real life situation that led to the nursery rhyme "See Saw Marjorie Daw".

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Don't make people into heroes John. Heroes don't exist and if they did I wouldn't be one of them.
