There was a great fic I read once but I forgot to bookmark it and I can't find it anymore. Maybe somebody here can help me out?
The fic was of medium length, but covered the whole life of John & Sherlock. At one point, John married Mary but still maintained a very close relationship to Sherlock, which was accepted by Mary, too. After she died John only lived with Sherlock. A recurring theme in the fic is Sherlock's wish to go to Kenya one day to see elephants there (which never comes true, though). The fic was very very sweet and I don't remember even if it was a true slash fic, just that John & Sherlock were bonded by a very caring and attentive love for each other .
I'd be really glad if someone could tell me the name if this story.
I found it!
It was actually in the Masterlist :D

Even the title is poetic. I can highly recommend it!

Short, should be labeled pre-slash, even though it isn't, and I was mind-boggled how the author caught both their personalities so well in her words. I could *see* them. Lovely work.
Oh! Lovely 'double-entendre-ing' about what truly is at the heart of their relationship. Playful and funny! I loved it!

Short, hot, very "them", as viewed through our rose-colored slash glasses.
Summary: John tries to get Sherlock's attention. He succeeds spectacularly well.

More hotness, tinged with jealousy, and trust issues, and want. Not to mention just a touch of humor. Lovely work. Another short one, but whew! *wipes sweat from brow* This is actually a sequel to Closer, but can stand alone. Wanted by Mazarin221b.

Compare their relationship to the Fujita Scale , which is used for measuring the damage a tornado causes, whydon'tcha? Okay.

This one is for those who enjoy angst. I LOVE angst; it's my fave kind of fan fic. No easy answers here, no easy ending, no easy anything. The story is set post-Reichenbach, and it's John/Mary as well as John/Sherlock. I really enjoyed it. It carries a warning about partner betrayal (infidelity), so if that's a squick for you, don't touch this one.

The Paper of His Skin by teahigh
I've read 1000s of slash fan fics over the last decade, in 3 different fandoms, and I've never read anything like this. Part fantasy, part romance, part angst, but all well-laced with the inevitability of a John-Sherlock relationship in this lifetime. Some couples are just meant to be, yeah?

Hmmmm, think I'll read that one for lunch.,

Lovely, AG. I've been appreciating all the short Johnlock stories you've been posting lately. 'Short' works perfectly for me during this busy season. Keeping hunting them down if you have the time. I always like the ones you find.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll definitely keep posting the ones I enjoy. I do love a novel-length story, but I understand what you mean about how the short ones fit our lives a lot better many times. I found a list of Xmas stories on mildredandbobbin's tumblr, and so far, I've read a couple of them. The list had about 20 stories in it!

Have we had this one? I'm not sure. It's short, a bit fluffy and rather nicely written, I thought.

Bye bye, everyone. In order to avoid spoilers, I'll be gone from the forum until after the last episode of S3 airs in the US, Feb. 2. I miss you already! Have fun, now.

I recently discovered that some fics have some kind of "add ons" or "bonus material" (actually this is a huge understatement) which I'd like to share with you.
First a fic that I already rec'd here recently:A Finger Slip by Pawtal ( ) which solely consists of text messages (and phone calls) and where John accidently wrote a text message to a wrong number- to Sherlock! Obviously it is AU but it is so great, it already made it to the top of my favourite fanfics list.
There is a kind of complementary fic to this one whose author, Katzedezimal, works closely together with Pawtal: A Slip of the Finger ( ). This fic is written as conventional prose and fills out the gaps that are left by A Finger Slip (because of the texting format, many things have only been hinted at). It is a great read, too!
The other thing I want to call your attention to is some artwork for earlgreytea68's well-known "Letters" ( ). This fic consists of letters Sherlock writes to John (with no intention of ever sending them) while he is "dead". Somebody took the effort to actually write these letters down on paper, just as Sherlock would have done it:
I'll never stop admiring how this fandom creates more and more wonderful stuff!
