Just popping by to say that is hilarious, thank you

I really enjoyed the observations you mentioned, would relaly like to believe the writers went this deep.

Re: Horror movies referenced

I just remembered that a girl-arsonist with supernatural psychic powers also appeared in the horror-movie "Carrie":

I cannot live without brainwork. What else is there to live for? Stand at the window there. Was there ever such a dreary, dismal, unprofitable world? See how the yellow fog swirls down the street and drifts across the dun-coloured houses. What could be more hopelessly prosaic and material? What is the use of having powers, Doctor, when one has no field upon which to exert them?

Re: Horror movies referenced

And what about the false girl in Mycroft's house, that one in old-fashioned dress? Does anybody recognize her?

Re: Horror movies referenced

It´s probably one of the Grady Twins from the movie "Shining", I guess:

Thank you very much, I think, you are right
The hair look different, but the dresses are very like, and there are two "girls" too:

Re: Horror movies referenced

Lovely additions to the list!

I had hoped my friend had some more ideas being a horror fan too but we never got to discuss that part...

I did not find "Cube"
And some references look a bit excessive. One little girl with a match is not a big building on fire ("Firestarter"), and burning film tape was used many times, in many movies.
Actually, almost everything was already used in horrors as the threat, and not necessarily it is purposely put reference. But since it is hard to invent something entirely new, I am glad to have the references play instead

It is unlikely the horror movie reference, but I have an impression, I have seen somewhere a take like this too.
Or perhaps I just watched to many action movies? ;)
