Series Three News » World Premiere of The Empty Hearse on 15 Dec. » November 6, 2013 12:47 am |
Odd mixture of feelings. Dunno... first I was excited as hell, then I got a bit angry, then it felt quite unreal... think I'm still trying to deal with the news ;) I wish I lived in London and could go to such brilliant events. I wished there was a general airdate no special event. But I'm happy happy happy because it's... it's SHERLOCK and it's SOON and it's REAL and and and.. ... Need my shock blanket. Need tea now.

The whole January might be a bit much... just maybe. I'm not absolutely sure
But what about just the weekend of the first episode (presuming they do indeed air it on a weekend)? The more I think about this meeting-up idea, the more I like it

What about the weekend of the THIRD episode? Going by my Reichenbach experience, I might find it extremely hard to watch that series four cliffhanger episode all on my own...
Understandable ;) But are we still talking about BBC/ the UK airdates? Because if we're just going to watch the THIRD episode... that would be quite a tease, I couldn't do that :D That's a cliffhanger backwards if you know what I mean - having to guess the in-between :D (at least it would be for me because I don't know how and where to watch BBC on my own here and I definitely wouldn't have yet watched the other 2 episodes then)
So I would also vote for the first episode - if we have to choose only one occasion ;o)
I really do count on the first two weeks in January now. We know it's not going to be much later... and everybody is busy on Christmas days, and december is also quite a busy month, so beginning of January would be great... Oh damn I'm getting more and more excited by the minute, and the closer we get to the airing, the more I am afraid of the time after ep 3... so okay, maybe to have company for the 3rd ep. is indeed desirable... reconsidering now... :D
do you think german air dates will be much delayed? I would be so glad if they were close to the uk ones, I'd rather watch them first before buying my dvd :D

And I don't even need to go to London - I just need to be right on the other side of the Channel, actually; in a hotel room with a TV. That's all I require*totally crazy*
Hm. If I got as close as the channel, well, nothing would keep me from just hopping on that ferry. I don't handle temptation well :D Or do you mean like Dover? Haha that would be fun... arriving late afternoon checking into some B&B, staying in all evening watching tv, next day leaving again :D
A question: where exactly can you receive BBC? I would guess, sure, the other side of the Channel, but how far? Is it dependant on satellite reception? I don't know anything about such stuff...

Did you consider getting a skull?![]()
Well, I don't know where from. And well, carrying a skull home from cinema, talking to it... there would be even more attention of the wrong kind, though maybe some of the right kind too, ohgod I'm trying to imagine that... haha :D

Filmon works fine for me. I'm just a little bit afraid of "internet breakdown" when S3 finally airs.
That's exactly what I don't want to risk ;) Imagine... 5 minutes into the series, excitement to no ends, sitting on the edge of my chair, Sherlock rushing in there's Mrs Hudson or John or Lestrade and I hold my breath and ---- no more. I would... well. Do terrible things. Probably smash my laptop or something. I'd really rather be on the safe side

You're not the only crazy one I have actually entertained the same thought... but of course, an airdate would help - then we'd be able to see if there are any cheap flights available or something. For me at least, it all depends on how expensive it would be...
Maybe we can talk again when we know more?
Yes!! An airdate would definitely help - in any way I can think of. It would be brilliant for travel planning, and even better for my health, and even great for the health of everybody around and close to me (although, with an airdate... would it get any better, or just WORSE? hehe not so sure)

Is it like a lecture or sth like that? Or is there discussion also? Couldn't really figure it out from the description.
It sounds cool, but although I'm even in London that day, sadly my travel company thinks it's "too weird" and doesn't dare to go there with me... ;) (needless to say she's not really that much into Sherlock, but well, at least I've tried...)
Meet The Members » What does your username/signature/avatar say about you? » October 17, 2013 11:56 pm |
Feels strange to answer "oldish" threads, but then - it's late in the night, and I am bored ;)
Nothing interesting about my name - I watched Hounds, and then I found this forum, and there was this Sherlock voice in my head saying "that's not cheating, that's listening" again and again and I didn't feel like thinking about a proper clever name with loads of meaning so I thought "Whisky it is". I'm not even sure I like terriers that much. Boring story.
Well, avatar... that's just my favourite Sherlock expression there. The expression just sums it up for me, everything that Sherlock is, or isn't. Of all Sherlock moments, this one in ASiP truly intrigued me. I feel like his whole character his truly on display there, not only aspects of it.
Well, signature... might change, there are so many awesome lines that need quoting. But well, this one - I do get bored easily. I just can relate.

I'd also love to meet you all! When where - let's plan something? ;) I'm relatively new here so I am allowed to be impatient and excited!
I think I won't make it to Frankenstein in Düsseldorf, but is anybody of you going to watch "The fifth estate" anywhere close to Muenster? Bcs I think I'll be in discussion mood after that film (either concerning the topic, or the Benedict performance, probably both) so company would be fun - talking to myself on the way home from cinema always attracts attention of the wrong kind ;)
Another question, though I think it has come up in another thread (but I can't find that one again right now, grateful if you can point me to it) - where and how are you going to watch series 3, dear Germans? I know I'm crazy, but I was thinking... like a short trip over to BBC-land. Depending on when the series airs (obviously christmas days would be difficult, but January could work...). Anybody else has got similar plans? Maybe? ;)

haha Mycroft is Merlin, yesssss :D
It's amazing how many hints you've found! While I do think there might be coincidences, it's really fun! I wish I had my Grimm Fairy Tales here for re-reading... as child I had a lovely book of them with beautiful pictures... loved it.
Well, but there wasn't much actual fire in the series so far... it was mostly blowing things up. I'm really excited about that bonfire thing now.

I cling to the hope that the creators focus solely on producing quality content. J.K. Rowling's fixation on the fandom seems to have seriously degraded the final three books of the Harry Potter series.
Well I am late to get back to this, but real life gets in the way sometimes...
anyway, you do have a point there! I wouldn't be happy if they just tried to please fans and the quality would suffer from it (and yes, the last books of Harry Potter were... not what they could have been. But I am not sure if that was only because of fan expectations).
Back to the theories... MNRebecca, I really support your points there.
I find it really hard to keep this theory up with spoiler/setlock stuff coming in... but it's not impossible, so I won't eliminate it ;) And my strongest hope is still the canon... if the producers really love the canon so much, would they go against it in this case? In minor cases, yes of course, but with the Fall? I cannot imagine... What about "my note to you was genuine"? I wouldn't like it one bit if they messed around with that one ;)
(But then again, I am not even sure that part is the equivalent to the goodbye phone call. It could also translate to the fact that Moriarty wants Sherlock destroyed, and John knows about this - Sherlock keeps him informed, is honest with him and only shuts him out in the very last moment when he realises Moriartys full intentions. While there is so much canon in the series, sometimes I am not quite sure which part translates to which.)

I don't think they meet at the Daffodil, myself. I think something else happens there, John gets kicked out and Sherlock doesn't reveal himself until the kebab shop. I don't think John will be fully conscious in the bonfire because he was drugged up, but maybe he's moaning or something and it gets the girl's attention. He's actually UNDERNEATH the wood, because Sherlock has to dig him out of the fire. Plus people would probably notice a real man burning to death on top of a bonfire ;)
Well, no they won't come face to face at the Daffodil, I know. If John intends to propose to Mary, I don't think he will get this far in the restaurant, as they get kicked out there before they even eat. So maybe at the Kebab shop, we will see
As for the bonfire, there is a casting description out there on the internet where they were looking for a father (age 35 to 50), who isn't very patient with his daughter when she tries to tell him, that the effigy on the bonfire is alive and telling her that he wants to get off the fire and asks her to help him, and let's face it, this would be quite a perfectly dramatic moment. So, this sounds to me very much like he maybe is conscious (albeit still under the influence of the drugs he had been given when he was abducted) for a short while before the fire is actually lit. It also corresponds with the shocked and screaming girl we got to see in the last trailer the BBC released.I've read the casting description, but the description from the people who were there at the bonfire (as well as pictures and video) clearly show Sherlock digging someout from underneath the fire, not on top. People would have been able to tell the difference between an effigy and an unconscious man on top of the fire before they lit it- but if you bury him under the fire, no one knows. The little probably tells her dad that she sees a ma

The Reichenbach Fall » Moriarty's Thank You on the roof » September 16, 2013 7:07 pm |
Haven't found this topic in the search, though I'm sure it must be somewhere already?... sorry.
I rewatched The Blind Banker yesterday, and it was the first time I paid proper attention to the "screen dialogue" at the very end of the episode between M and General Shan:
M: Gratitude is meaningless. It is only the expectation of further favours.
I've always assumed that Moriarty wouldn't care about thank you's, so it never bothered me. But yesterday I've been thinking about Reichenbach: Moriarty says Thank you, even "bless you" to Sherlock on the roof? What does the "thank you" might be worth then, what's the meaning? Moriarty's thank you on the roof has felt genuine to me -- so far. Now I am not so sure anymore what it might mean. If gratitude is meaningless, then why say thank you? Is Sherlock simply the first person who deserves his thanks?
Can someone enlighten me? ;o)

Thank you for that link, I had a wonderful evening, haven't laughed so much for ages :D This crazy imagination of sherlock fans is the best... I would like to see each and every one of those episodes, even the grim ones... I passed the link onto some non-sherlockians, they loved it as well and got quite curious about the series, hehe

Wow, thank you all very much for the warm welcome - I do feel at home already, so much Sherlock obsession- makes me very happy
Davina - there are quite a few germans here I've seen?
the name is about the terrier not the drink - although I'd agree on Jim's taste ;)
tonnaree - which mattress? did I miss something? I don't sleep - I watch Sherlock. although I once again realised that watching sherlock and reading fanfic till 6 in the morning just before an 8 hour work day is... unhealthy to say the least :D
I wish I knew how Sherlock does it.
and well, I'm so excited about this forum that I forgot my pizza in the oven, smells a bit not good

MNRebecca wrote:
Howdy, all. I'm trying to find discussion of my favorite theory, that Sherlock did nothing to fake his death, that he went over that ledge fully believing he was giving his life for his friends.
Yes, I'd love some discussion on that too It was my first idea, and while I went through many other explanations and theories, I've always come back to it. Because it's unexpected and logical and just... I don't know. It has got some flaws, but other theories have got those, too.
Producers interest would be to surprise people... it’s nice if we can say: „oh, we got it all right, we’re such brilliant minds, just like Sherlock is“...
But i guess we would be even more thrilled if the explanation turned out to be something completely different, a real surprise... and I suppose that’s what the producers tried to achieve, so I’m sure it’s gonna be the Unexpected (like the mobile during the pool scene). Sherlock doing nothing to fake his death would be just that.
Also, in the original stories, in "The Empty House" Sherlock confesses to John that he honestly thought he was going to die when he met Moriarty. I know there are loads of changes in the series, but I'd like to see that this, and Mycrofts involvement, will somehow still be true. I do not doubt Mycrofts involvement, so why should I doubt the above? :D
I like to think that Mycroft is doing the thinking there, making the plans - and Sherlock is for once just a pawn in the game. Because Sherlock is a match for Moriarty, but in the end he is just good enough - he isn't ahead of the game, he isn't cleverer than Moriarty - he did believe in the computer key code, as he did believe that Moriarty really wanted the USB stick in "The Great Game". So maybe both dying, Moriarty and Sherlock, would have been a fair end for two equals. So maybe with choosing the rooftop Sherlock was just trying to show Moriarty that he understood the plan with the genius suicide - but maybe Sherlock, at that
Introductions Please... » Hi from Germany :-) » September 4, 2013 9:16 pm |
Hi!
I just found this forum, and I'm happy I did, because I just need some... place for my Sherlock obsession. Some of my friends do like the series, so that's good, but they don't quite understand my desperate N-E-E-D for M-O-R-E... they're like "it's just a tv series" (how? HOW???) so that leaves me, spending hours on the internet, feeling quite isolated with all my Sherlock search history in my browser.
So I hope this might be the place, to, you know, WAIT. Which I can't. I remember the waiting for Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter or just any other good thing was hard to do... but this, it's definitely worse :D
And well, I'm from Germany - I do hope I won't get hung for any bad spelling or grammar ;)
Don't know what else to say... good to be here
