A good friend has given me a self-made Sherlock memory for my birthday!
It's not just pictures, but each pair consists of a picture (screen capture) and the fitting quote. It's pretty much impossible to play if you don't know the series very well. I loved it!! It's even real fun to play on my own, and we also had a great time messing round with the pictures and the quotes... Best thing: it's only for series 3 now, but I can expand it as much as I like to.
Only problem: there aren't many people I can play it with :D
Has anybody else a Sherlock memory game, self-made or not?

That's very true, and it doesn't get recognized so much - I only realised this yesterday after having watched the episode like 50 times.

Oh wow, that was quick, thanks
Is it also used in the army? (I confess I really have no idea about army related stuff)

Using this thread to ask just a tiny question -
where did John learn morse alphabet? Is it taught in the army, or did he just happen to know it? Anybody know this?
I was wondering because he immediatly recognizes the letters and is really quick about it too. And having learned it myself, I'm sure he must have used it before a few times, or have it really strongly commited to memory to read it as quickly as he does. I always have to put down the whole thing and then slowly fill in the fitting letters.

Ta! (I love it when John says that in the episode...)

As I've said over and over again, we don't have enough data on Mary yet to know if she's an antagonistic ('bad guy') or a protagonist ('good guy'). That her actions make perfect sense to me do not mean that I condone her. It does take a certain kind of personality to become a government operative, assassin or not, and a certain deviation from society's code of ethics (eg. the justification of assassination or torture for the 'greater good' of the free world).  Series 4 will tell us if she wants to continue to live by that code of ethics or not.

I think I agree on that.

I'm not so sure about John though. I don't think he is a violent person, I simply think that some emotions are too strong to take out on a merely oral level. If his life would stop putting him through all that kind of emotional challenge (I mean, how many people have to deal with their best friend faking death at them and then have their wife shoot that best friend just to find out that the wife is a bit less sweet and a bit more dangerous than expected?). I don't think he is crossing lines.
I would despise a therapist who would tell me: well, these people put you through emotional hell, but hey, you are a morally good person, so don't turn to violence, just keep talking to them. They might be right, but I would still think: oh brilliant, where can I go to become such a domestic, suppressed being? We are physical beings, it's a language of its own, and a quite expressive one. Of course I would think it better John would take it out on stuff and not on Sherlock (and he does in the 221b scene with Mary! did anyone comment positive on that?) but I find it... normal. And no, that's not me saying violence is a good thing.

Oh, sorry for posting again, just a thought that occured to me while reading another thread...
Did Mary say herself shooting Sherlock was "surgery"? I cannot remember right now. I just remember Sherlock saying it.
Is there a chance that Mary fully intended to kill Sherlock, and just plays along his game? If he offers her trust and a nice explanation named "surgery", while should she confess to cold-blooded murder? Maybe Sherlock got it wrong, and Mary is the one who benefits from it?
Of course, Sherlock tests his theory and tries to find out how good Marys shooting is. But she was under stress, and it wasn't so far off from killing Sherlock, that shot. So it could have been a killing shot that wasn't that perfect, actually. And calling the ambulance... did we ever see proof that she really called them? Sherlock knew she was dialling, but then he passed out... has he checked with ambulance if it really was her?
God, I start doubting everything now, need to stop.

I try to wrap my mind around the "what scenario would have happened" if Sherlock wouldn't have taken that one step forward. I thought I'd given up on understanding Mary, but here I am again.
SusiGo, you said Mary would have shot Sherlock anyway, because he would have been a witness? I try to imagine that: Mary offers "stay where you are otherwise I will shoot you" and Sherlock would have stayed where he was... what sense would it make for Mary to shoot him then anyway? Why did she offer him a choice then? She could have said "hey Sherlock, wrong place wrong time, gonna shoot you no matter what". But she is clearly trying to interact with Sherlock, but why? For which scenario is she hoping, if it's not for Sherlock helping her?
I feel that Mary is kind of a person who knows what she wants. If she wants to have no witnesses, she will make that happen. If she wants more time, she will make sure she gets more time. So if she says to Sherlock "stay well back" - I find it comprehensible that she will do sth to him if he moves, but if he would have stayed where he was...
Is she just that sure that Sherlock will ignore her warning?

I'm not sure the shooting can be explained just by logical reasons. I don't see any sense in Mary shooting Sherlock like that, I'm with you there, molly.
I think with choosing a blow on the head instead, we would have missed out Sherlock's brilliant mind palace scene. For me, Mary shooting Sherlock is an action put there for dramatic reasons, not so much for logical story reasons, but that's really just my opinion after still failing to understand why Mary did it, and simply based on my thinking that the mind palace scene is one of the best in HLV.

Uhm. I just wonder if Sherlock and John are the "afraid of spiders" type or the "I don't care about them" type. Probably they never have spiders in 221b, because Sherlock picks them up and does nasty things to them, and word gets round...
