Labels are so incredibly annoying. Having something of a complicated "sexuality" myself, when I was growing up, schoolfriends used to insist on asking me whether I was gay, straight, or bi, and the only way I could answer was to say, "I'm not any of those, I'm just myself", because I honestly don't feel I would be able to fit comfortably into any category.

It's never that black or white. People are complex and complicated and as a result, so are their emotions and relationships. Sherlock is no exception, in fact, I would say that Sherlock was even more complicated than most people.

But yeah, he's just Sherlock. I don't think he's incapable of falling in love, or having feelings, but he's never been interested in that side of things before because it would get in the way of his work, which is the most important thing to him. I don't feel like he particularly looks at people (male or female) and thinks "God they're attractive" or "I really fancy them" etc. He can recognise beauty or ugliness as a quality the same as anyone else can but it doesn't translate into any direct emotional response from him.

Assuming this is true, he would only ever be "attracted" to someone based on their personality (John) or intelligence (Irene, Moriarty). but this probably wouldn't show itself on a sexual level, just wanting to spend time with that person/get to know them better. That's not to say he would never have sex, but I imagine him to be the type to be in an extremely long term non-sexual relationship with someone before sex was even considered as something he might be interested in.

Love this post!  Especially what you said about labels, you rock!  It's because of them I've only recently begun to embrace the fact that I don't fall under any label really, having felt somewhat influenced by the outside world that you're either one thing o

They said "Sounds boring" ?! Seriously?!  That's crazy talk!!! Sherlock is AWESOME!  As I'm sure every single one of us Sherlocked Sherlockians here can agree, so you have come to the right place!  Welcome to the forum and I hope you have fun!  I had a similar experience myself when I first saw Sherlock, I saw A Study In Pink and I immediately became hooked and watched all the episodes within a couple of days

I recently read a Johnlock fan fiction called "Be Here Now", and the author was inspired by a song of the same title. Having never heard it before, I gave it a listen...I just about cried, it was quite lovely and rings quite true to John and Sherlocks relationship arc in that particular fan fic. And I think it could have some semblance to the TV series as well.

I've just finished reading yet another AMAZING Sherlock fan fic, greatly enjoyed it!  Now I've come across another one I'm thinking about reading, "Ten Days" by Engazed...I'm assuming some of you here have read it and I'm wondering if it's any good? No details in case I do decide to read it, I'm just curious

His hair certainly was interestingly different in the pilot. Here, too....

(although honestly, aside from Sherlock-hair and Harrison-hair, I find that one pretty nice on him too! And same awesome intensity...)

This is his 1970s hair - goes with the suit!

There is something oddly adorable about that haircut :3 . I first saw TTSS not long after seeing both Sherlock series for the first time, I had no idea he was in it and when I first saw him on screen I practically lept out of my chair! xD

He's great in TTSS. Wonderfully dressed, and the hair's interesting as well. And then there's this short, heartbreaking scene …

I know what scene you mean ...I cried

General Sherlock Discussion » Sherlocked Songs! ;D » June 2, 2013 8:50 pm

A habit of mine is creating playlists for shows/books/movies I love or simply finding certain songs that remind me of them. Sherlock definitely being one of them . I must've come across dozens of songs that remind me of, or that feel appropriate for, certain characters/relationships/elements of the show. I know there is a section for fanvideos and such, but this one could be just for songs (of course some will probably have been into fanvideos as well) . I apologize if there is already a topic like this somewhere on here (though I couldn't find it, if there is than just ignore me, hehe ). Anyway, I figure it might be neat to share songs we feel remind us of the show in some way! And maybe we could also explain why they remind us of the show?
I'll start off;

The Scientist ~ Coldplay (now this has been made into a video by a few people, but even on it's own it always reminds me of John and Sherlock)

Undisclosed Desires ~ Muse (Honestly, I don't really know why this reminds me of John and Sherlock...it just does for some reason )

Without You ~ RENT (A part of me pictures this as being from Johns, maybe even Sherlocks, perspective after The Reichenbach Fall)

Sound The Bugle ~ Bryan Adams

Wherever You Will Go ~ The Calling

That's enough from me for now, I have many more.  Some of those are kinda romantic, but I really can see Sherlock and John being either a romantic couple or a friendship one.

So many wonderful details in this short scene. And then of course "Take my hand".

A part of me always tears up a little every time I hear Sherlock say that...
It really is an interesting scene, like QuiteExtraordinary said.
So many of my favourite moments of both series can be traced back to The Reichenbach Fall...as can many of the scenes that make cry
