Very excited to see Jonothan Pryce too!

GOT premieres the same weekend as 221b.con, so much to look foward to!

I'm excited to see him as the High Sparrow.  He will be perfect for that part

I have tickets to see the IMAX special next Thursday night.  Obviously the episodes are from last season, but I absolutely want to see them on the big screen.  And the promise of a 3 minute trailer is pretty awesome, too.

Hope you enjoy the con :D

I am really irritated that none of the IMAX showings are near me!

That's really odd- I would have thought they would have one closer :/

Also, not sure if anyone plays the game, but Telltale just released the trailer for Episode 2 of their Game of Thrones game:

The story actually interweaves with the television series' story, and we get the real characters from the story (with the voices from the actual actors).  I played episode 1, and it was incredibly fun.  I can't wait to get episode 2.

So, thought I'd drop a bit of news here concerning Season 5:

1. The new season starts April 12th.

2. Episodes 9 and 10 of Season 4 will be airing in select IMAX theaters in North American for a full week starting January 29th.  This will include an exclusive 3 minute preview of Season 5, the first trailer for the new season.  Here's the trailer:

3. A behind-the-scenes feature called "A Day in the Life" will air at 7:30 pm Eastern/6:30 Central on Feb. 8th on HBO and HBO go.  Here's the trailer:

I don't know about you, but I'm really excited :D

I have to admit, the melodrama is getting to me a bit (not to mention the unbelievability of the trial- a judge cannot FORCE a wife to testify against her spouse, that's basic law).  But the hatred towards Ellie is rather unbelievable and really over the top.

I just hate it because I loved the first series...but they are really going overboard in this series to try and top it.  Wish they had pulled back some.

To each his or her own, but I immensely disliked about 90% of Series 1.  I've never rewatched it, and my husband and I struggled through it.

We liked it better starting in Series 2, and much more in Series 3 and beyond.

I loved it.  I thought it was easily one of the best Christmas specials they've ever done.  It was absurd in a great way that actually made sense.  Glad to see Clara sticking around, I was about to start sobbing when she was old.

Christmas special comes on the 25th in the UK and US.  Not sure about other countries.

I loved the interview.  Especially when Smaug called Benedict Cumberbatch "a hack" XD  And also when they showed Smaug, the dragon, dressed up in the motion capture equipment.

A Charlie Brown Christmas is my favorite Christmas soundtrack.  Since we were little we would put it on to help decorate the tree.  I still do it with my own kids.

We've started listening to Christmas music.  Yeah, I know it's early, but I'm already in the mood for it XD

Oh, so confusing!  I thought

that she lied to him about Gallifrey, and he was looking out into space when he got there?  Or do you mean he misunderstood and was looking in the wrong place?

I got a bit caught up in the emotion and missed some things too, I think.

I did like the Brigadier bit.  My head was telling me it was ridiculous for any number of reasons.  My heart felt differently, especially with the salute.

I know what you mean about the music, Davina.  It was quite intrusive at times, but I think I liked it.    There was a silly bit where the main theme went a bit disco.  I can't remember when that was, but it had me sofa-dancing at the time!

Loved the hug/lies/face-hiding at the end.  Do you think either of them sort of guessed, but followed each other's wishes?  I wasn't sure.

Well, the Master most definitely could have lied to the Doctor...but that's not really her way of doing things.  She likes to play games with the Doctor, and always has.  It's very possible that she actually did give the Doctor the information he needed to find Gallifrey, but he didn't put it together correctly and thought she tricked him.  That's my thinking on it, anyway.

I enjoyed that episode. Thought Missy was played brilliantly and her scenes with The Doctor were excellent. The Pink/Clara relationship was well done too. Really good all round (except I found that part with The Brigadier/Cyberman rescue thingy, much too cheesy for my taste). I loved the idea of choices being made, especially Pink's final choice. 'This is the Doctor' were super-delivered lines. I was impressed, yet again, by Capaldi (his face when he realised that Missy had been telling the truth and his reaction when he beat up the Tardis...marvellous!)

It was! Loved it. How good were Missy's mannerisms now that we knew who she was? And the Doctor's reactions, like you said? And the weight of their choices they made.

But now that the emotional roller coaster is over, can't help but wonder about a few things that either were left vague, or to interpretation, or simply missed explanation in the midst of being utterly caught up in everything else. First, how in the world did Missy do that appearing/disappearing trick? (on the plane, and at end, showing up like an evil Mary Poppins) And was she really telling the Doctor the truth, trying to appease him with one last 'gift' to be friends again? I thought he was so upset because he realized she lied/played with him again, and now was really back to square one, on top of the rest of the losses. Speaking of 'lies'… gah, don't even start on those.

She has a teleportation device- the bracelet on her wrist.  It was how Danny sent the little boy back.

She may or may not have been telling the truth (very likely she was telling the truth, but in a way that the Doctor misinterpreted), but he thinks she lied about it.

The St. Paul's roof trick was awesome (overused word, but it WAS) but I did feel that some of the other visual effects and sound effects were a little clunky. Personally, I would have liked to have seen a little more use of silence at times, rather than some of the incidental music (most was really good but sometimes silence or natural sounds can build a sense of tension more than music can).

I thought the flashback, realisation sections were super too.

So...what's next?

Santa Claus, apparently ;)

Loved that episode.  I was an emotional wreck by the end of it.  Moffat has a way of pulling my strings so completely that I can't deal with it XD  I'm feeling nostalgic for series 5 once again...think I might have to pull it out.  Especially now that I know how he's connected Matt Smith's era to Capaldi's.

I can't wait for Christmas!

It's not embarrassing at all...some episodes are really scary.  Any episode with the Weeping Angels freaks me out.  Glad you are enjoying it!

I really enjoyed that episode.  I wouldn't say the writing has been terribly even this season, but I am enjoying it, nevertheless.  This one was pretty tightly done and fast-paced, so it was interesting to watch.  Really interested in next week for sure...the previews have been very enticing this season XD

"Listen" was absolutely amazing.  I was scared, shocked and even tearful at different points.  Great episode, best of the season.
