"Why?" The DI seemed pleasantly surprised when he perused the tea caddy's contents. What did he suppose John kept in there, his fingernail clippings? "PG tips. Those are my favourite brand. Do you care for a cuppa?"

'Erm, no. I'd rather not.' echoed Sherlock's voice from the living room where he was lounging. If you could call it that.
Lestrade ignored the absence of manners there: when John was not there, Sherlock would sulk and revert to his old rude self. Well, he was rude when John was here, but his being alone seemed to make him much ruder, and distant. What was it that he had said, once? Feelings are a distraction, or something along those lines?
