Steve Thompson, one of the trio of writers who originally brought Sherlock to us, has a new series out. And a good-looking one at that! It takes place in a fin-de-siecle Vienna. One of the main characters is half-Slovak (Wow! ). And it was filmed in Vienna at the historical locations. Sounds very good to me:

Reactions of viewers are quite positive too - just don´t read the actual "review" (it spoiled absolutely everything from Episode No. 1):

I´ll definitely give this one a go!

I cannot live without brainwork. What else is there to live for? Stand at the window there. Was there ever such a dreary, dismal, unprofitable world? See how the yellow fog swirls down the street and drifts across the dun-coloured houses. What could be more hopelessly prosaic and material? What is the use of having powers, Doctor, when one has no field upon which to exert them?

Didn't realise this was from the lovely Steven...
Yes, the trailers do look good.

A nice interview about the whole project with Steve Thompson and with Frank Tallis, the writer of the original books:

Well I missed it, when it first aired.
But they are currently repeating it.
I saw the first one last night.
Really enjoyed it.
Absolutely hilarious, though:
this Steve does exactly the same as Mr Moffat...he uses some of the same lines he used in Sherlock!
I thought it was interesting play with the 2 male leads though:
ostensibly the young doctor is the Sherlock character...
But the bumbling police man(Watson type) comes good...
There is good interplay between them.

Oh thanks ... I think I saw the first one or two and then forgot about it!
