Haven't seen anything with Colin Firth in a while, and never with Benedict. Looks like it could be interesting.

Yes, absolutely. The First World War was terrible for everyone involved. While they can't sugercoat it, of course, from the trailer it looks very exciting but not too gory, while still showing the violence. Hopefully the trailer is accurate and it won't be gratuitous. I don't get that impression from the trailer, though.

I've just managed to see this and can highly recommend seeing it on a big screen. Benedict and Andrew have very little screen time, but it's an astonishing film. One thing that doesn't come across at all in the trailer is that it has famously been filmed to look like a single shot in real time (I think it's not actually a single shot, but the shots are very long indeed). I was worried this might feel gimmicky but it really did work well. It must have been incredibly difficult to do! The trailer jumps about, obviously, so feels very different. I thought the sound was fantastic too, loved the music, the contrast of quiet and noise, the clear speech (I could hear everything the actors were saying!). The story was very simple and moving. Highly recommended!

I wonder if the DVD will come with a "making of" feature. That would be really interesting to see. Oh, I just had a google and there are some pieces on youtube so will watch them now that I've seen the film! I did listen to something with Sam Mendes saying about how they could film a perfect 8 minute sequence then the camera person trips up and they have to do it all again from the beginning!

Oh no! I hope they were able to laugh about it! It must have been so tense for all the actors, camera crew, etc.

That´s sounds exciting but I´m afraid the movie will be too gory for me. How would you rate it considering "goryness"? Could a squeamish person take it or not?
