All right, disguise is a useful trick when writing a detective novel. But beside Sherlock and Irene, many characters seem to use disguise rather often in SH' adventures! Several have a double life.

Also, Doyle obviously enjoy "staging" and dramatic theatrics in the way action happen.

I know nothing about Doyle (except he was a doctor), I thought that maybe he was influenced by actors (friends, relatives?).
