That's exactly right, Susi.
My colleague is the Scottish Kirsteen and all her family call her Kitty.
So I suppose the English equivalent should be Christine, but I believe it's common for Katherine's to be called 'Kitty'...which is why I always smile at Katherine Parkinson as Kitty in Sherlock!

Well my nickname is Kitty... most of my friends call me that, and my name isn't Katherine or anything close to that... I think I just started to like my nickname a lot more!

I figured it was short for Christopher, but I had never heard it before. I guess they like it better than Chris, at least for now.

Kit is the very traditional, English abbreviation.
Chris would be the more modern, usual version.

So Kit Harrington's name is Christopher?

I thought it was awesome as I love the name Kit (since two characters from one of my favorite comics are named Kit).

Cumber Cookie is quite nice, too.
I love Tilda, but not sure on Cumbersomes,..
